Re: TV: New Season of Top Gear tonight
said by Devanchya:It's a rights issue. In the UK, the BBC has a deal with the music publishers that allows them to use just about any music in their shows, including modern popular music, at least for the initial runs. In all other nations however, these rights have to be secured in advance. Sometimes, securing those rights are too expensive, so the original music is replaced with generic junk.
They change the music in the Canadian release? What?
That's why in the Bugatti Veyron's top speed run in season 9, episode 2, you hear the Star Wars Sith Lord track in the original UK broadcast, and generic junk in every other broadcast including foreign broadcasts, both original and repeats.
And don't get me started on the butcher job done to the season 12, episode 8 Vietnam road trip special.
