I have an older 2007 iMac that I just replaced with a new model. I'd like to give the older one to my daughter for her school reports and what not and would like to clean the iMac so it's back to day one status. All files have been removed and I'd like to have this be back to the way it was on day one The thing here is that I no longer have any of the original CDs that came with this unit. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

reply to rustypixel My daughter recently received a mid 2007 iMac with Mountain Lion preinstalled. While it can run ML it's far from reliable. Instead you might want to consider ordering Snow Leopard directly from Apple. »store.apple.com/us/product/MC573···-leopard
I'm running Mountain Lion on a mid 2007 iMac. On rare occasions when it starts acting flaky with crashes and beach balls I fix permissions and it repairs a bunch of things it finds wrong and everything is fine again. Eventually it will no longer be supported by future OS X or at some point OS XI but it's OK for now. -- I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

That's exactly the same problem my daughter had with her iMac.
reply to rustypixel I appreciate all the replies and suggestions. I think the best and easiest solution here would be to order Snow Leopard for $20 and having that CD handy. The computer is still running just fine after all these years and I easily see it going for a few more.
Thanks everyone. -- Out of my mind and out of control!

reply to rustypixel Kinda surprised no one mentioned this...
It might work just as well to simply create a new admin user account then log in to it and delete the old. That restores all preferences to default and deleting the old user account will remove a lot of the stuff left behind in the user specific folders... -- »www.1015jamz.com/
