| reply to onDvine Glad you've got the surgery out of the way, D.
Now, to get you healed up and get the rest of the treatment on track, so that you can get healed up once and for all! Hope you're feeling better; I know surgery can really punch you, having been there myself.
Rots and rots of healing light headed your way!!! -- "I can't save them all, but I sure as hell CAN help move them to safety." - Jo

Dr. L. feels we need to be as aggressive as possible. If it's determined that my liver can handle it, there will be a combination of radiation treatments and chemotherapy. I need a week or two to heal from last week's procedure before they can start radiation, plus they want to get a very detailed scan of my brain to make absolutely certain no cancer sneaked in there. If it did, it's a game changer. Am allergic to IV iodine dye so they need to use something else for contrast. Also, they need to decide if any specific chemo will be easier on my liver than others.
We had a scare with my brother admitted to the hospital today; they thought he might have contracted meningitis but have since ruled that out. What a relief! His kidney is still being rejected, but once they got him rehydrated he thought a turkey sandwich sounded good.
I'm going to lie down but hope to post more tomorrow. Am supposed to have a test to get a baseline of my current lung functioning because the radiation may zap some healthy lung tissue. I saw the radiation oncologist right after Dr. L. (my primary oncologist).
Any appointments I can arrange for tomorrow and/or Friday, I will. Then back to Dr. L. a week from today to see where we stand and start (to quote a dear friend) kicking cancer's ass. |

onDvineDon't Litter. Spay-Neuter.Premium join:2005-01-29 So. CA, USA kudos:8 | reply to onDvine Made a lot of progress:
Tomorrow morning will have a pulmonary function test to get a baseline measurement.
Tuesday afternoon (4/9) will have the brain MRI.
Wednesday will have a "radiation set up." They'll use a bean bag thingie to mold to my body and give me a couple (few?) tiny marker tattoos. Will be out of there in time to see the oncologist at 12:15. By then, he should know what can be done with chemo.
Radiation treatments may start as soon as Monday, April 15.
Please forgive if I've repeated anything? |
