I have a uverse STB connected to my Onkyo 709 AVR with an HDMI cable. Whenever I pause, ff or rewind, there is a 1-2 second delay before the audio comes on. It also happens on a TV connected direct to an STB via HDMI as well. Any ideas on why this might happen? Is this "normal"?
It's probably the HDMI interface. Which STB do you have? Cisco or Motorola? I am unable to use HDMI with my TV due to audio issue, but I have no problems with component.
I have the same issue with my Onkyo HT-RC360 receiver and the Motorola VIP 2250 DVR. Any resolution yet?

I can't use the optical audio output on my primary Motorola DVR unit for surround, as the delay is at least a half second. Even if I mute the TV you can tell that the audio is not in synch with what is on the screen, especially when someone is talking and you can see their mouth moving.
I wonder if your audio delay is due to an audio resynch that has to occur on the decoder.
