[TWC] Verizon 3Mbps DSL vs TWC Standard (zip code 11220)

Hi everyone. I'm a current Verizon DSL customer and I've been thinking of changing to cable. I have to say, Verizon speeds are very constant but slow. I had TWC 5-6 years ago. Only reason I changed to Verizon was because I had a 10Mbps package but during peak hours I got less than 2.

But now, I heard TWC has "upgraded." I need higher speeds because with Verizon I cannot do multiple things together such as Skype and stream Netflix.

Is it worth it to switch over?

I want to ask the people in 11220 or anyone who had to make this decision to share their experiences.

If you cannot get verizon fios then I would suggest time warner just try to find a neighbor that maybe has it and check if there are no issues in ur location as far as packet loss etc..

Here's my current connection, in 10012, with TWC's Standard Internet over my wireless network.

hmm Just wondering about Standard 30/1? I'm TW in 10019. Tried an Arris DOCSIS 3.0 w/ Turbo that was only 20/2 at the time. When trial period expired I dropped to Standard that recently upped to 15/1 from older 10/1 I think it was.
Wouldn't 30/1 be closer to an Extreme tier or some such name? Or is Extreme 30/5 or something.
fwiw Hardly seeing any dif between Turbo & Standard regarding steaming or multi-tasking. Win 8 x64 Pro. TW been solid lately too.
Had DSL in 10019 zip years ago when rolled out. In spite of being block & half from CO I'd lose connect all the time & slow in evenings. Go TW esp if get an intro deal.

TWC tiers:

lite - 1*1
basic - 1*3
regular/standard - 1*15
Turbo - 2*20
D3 tier 5*30
D3 tier 5*50

IIRC the 1*15 can still be delivered on D1.1 /D2 and have powerboost.

There are 2 D3 tiers here I forget the names but they are as above.

Wow, that's amazing. Looks to me TWC might be stepping up their game.

Though, I wish they offered free installation and not charge a 48 dollar fee =/
