Re: [Weather] Feb 26 & 27 Storm potential ON and PQ I had a scare! My vpn to work went down and would not come back up. Since the machine is fairly locked down I could not do the usual troubleshooting to fix. Luckily two reboots later it works. I almost had to put pants on |

c2rothPremium join:2006-04-26 Kitchener, ON kudos:2 | reply to fast4ward That was some terrible heavy snow this morning here in Kitchener. I got half the driveway done and threw in the towel as I was already late leaving the house. Considering the temperatures it might just melt a little bit. |

 | reply to fast4ward House sitting my parents place while they're away in the states. Power went out for 5 hours, emergency sump pump didn't kick in so had a nice small pool in the basement. Had to run some cord from the main pump to hook up to the generator. |

| reply to fast4ward About 3 - 5cm of what I would call slush on the ground this morning. Very heavy and difficult to move.
It tried to snow, just wasn't cold enough.
I think we dodged a bullet - 3 or 4 degrees cooler and we'd be having a different result this morning.

 | Huge storm outside with 0" of snow. Well, there is the hard packed snow that hadn't fully melted the previous days so if you count that we might have 1" of snow. |

Schools and school buses all ran this morning, so kids throughout the city were disappointed with not getting a snow day and the afternoon rush hour is going to be very entertaining. | reply to fast4ward We've easily got 4" of wet, heavy snow here and it's still coming down. The roads were plowed really well even by 6am and they were still going at it. Even with them being so on top of it there was some flooding and low visibility. Definitely a drive I had to pay full attention to. I got hammered by the spray of a truck going in the other direction. You know the kind that you see coming and brace yourself as you frantically reach to turn the wipers on high? The spray covers the whole car and you pray the windshield wipers can handle the weight of it and quickly. As I came south towards the lake there was less and less snow. -- Fluent in 3 languages: English, Sarcasm and Sexual Innuendo.

Haha, all but the the largest piles in plaza parking lots melted here yesterday. The huge giagantor flakes falling right now are the only snow I've seen from this entire "storm"
We did get enough of a deluge yesterday combined with the melted snow to cause a small section of my basement to get a bit wet. Goddamn 1930s house. |

 | reply to donoreo said by donoreo:Very heavy, very wet. I normally clear the sidewalk because the city guys suck at it with their sidewalk plough, but I left it this morning. Most of it anyway. The sidewalk plow went down my street as I was out shoveling. Left nice, snowman size balls along the driveway for me to deal with. I got about a third of my driveway done before running out of time and energy. Will do the rest of it after work. I won't be using my snowblower because with this kind of slop it just clogs and bogs down.
Read somewhere that snow this wet weighs about 40 pounds per cubic foot. Something to keep in mind before you load up that shovel. -- "It's all coming down!!" - Mike Holmes |

| reply to fast4ward Rain / snow mix last night into today in Mississauga. Can't actually tell if more is coming down right now because my window at the office is nearly covered in a sheet of ice from what we've gotten so far.
From what I can hear however, it appears that the water isn't getting down the drain though, which means the drive to the chiropractor this afternoon will be loads of fun
I'd skip tonight's appointment but I really need an adjustment after sitting in the Mississauga council chamber seats for two hours Monday night
