[DSL] ST516 cannot connect, Bell 2wire 2701 can ?
Just looking to see if anyone ever experienced a similar problem, because I have no idea whats happening...
Long story short (skipping my day on the phone with tech support):
* Was with bell for 2+ years on DSL 10mbps (worked fine).
* Teksavvy switch happened on Friday.
* ST516 that Teksavvy sent can connect to the DSL line fine (solid light) and the internet light is also solid... But I cannot surf anywhere ("connecting" and "waiting" forever).
* Tried my Bell 2wire 2701 modem with Teksavvy credentials and that one works perfectly (10mbps speed as expected, etc).
Decide to try out a "fix" I find on the internet that relies on TELNET-ing into the ST516 and changing the dsl type from adsl2+ (default) to adsl. The modem starts working... But I only can get 7mbps speed max. The connection seems also very unstable and it drops after 5-10minutes.
Do I really have a bad modem or is it just that particular type of modem that is, lets say, less stable than the 2wire ?

Does it take your modems a ridiculous amount of time to sync?
I had this problem once where only 2wire worked properly at a certain house. After many, many, many bell visits, the problem finally was the phone jack the modem was connected to, which had 3 slots. 2 were unused, but that was enough to create problems - even worse, those problems were not detectable with line stats.
This is a longshot solution. You can try your modem at the demarc and see what happens.
