Creating a batch file or .exe to reboot my DIR 655I have to reboot my router often for various reasons (DIR 655, Hardware Version A3, Firmware Version 1.35NA).
Is it possible to create a file/program (with my user login data embedded in to said program) to reboot my router for me? As opposed to manually logging in to my router, navigating to the correct page, and clicking reboot. This would help my roommates who are not very tech savy.
Also I am aware I can plug and unplug the device, that is now what I am asking. Also I am aware that logging in to reboot it takes a relatively small amount of time, this will not solve my issue.
Thank you for reading and any help. Any suggestions that are similar to simply running a program to reboot the device are welcome.

How about a 110v power timer that you can set up and connect the power adapter too. |

To answer your question specifically; no. There is no way to do it with any batch file or .exe, or any script since most of those will require ssh or telnet to gain access to the router, which the DIR-655 does not have.
As for what will work, we need to know your requirements. You said unplugging and plugging back in won't be a solution, why? Are the people required not going to physical access to the router? What is the reason you have to reboot it?
In general, the only thing that comes to mind is creating some sort of macro, probably with Firefox, to duplicate the keystrokes and mouse gestures required to reboot via the web interface. |

Hey thanks for the replies.
I will spare you the wall of text and explanations.
I will just create a macro with auto hotkey on their computers. was hoping to avoid 3rd party software, but i have no choice.
thanks again, take care |

Do your brain dead room mates reside within earshot of the router? How about a Clapper? » www.walmart.com/ip/The-C ··· 10740655

Not for nothing, but what's causing the need to reboot the router?
Perhaps fixing the underlying problem(s) may negate the need to powercycle or reload the device? |

If your technically wise with cookies and sessions, maybe you can try using Fiddler to see what cookies and sessions are being created, then you cook up and batch file with curl or maybe wget to do what you need to do. |

When I had to start rebooting my DIR-655 fairly often(same hardware and firmware), I knew it had reached the end of its life.
I'd use an A/C timer as suggested above and set it to trip off then back on at 4:00 AM. |

Of course you can. You need to use curl and do some research. I owned a di-624 before and i manage to write a full script to change my DHCP Cable ISP IP. The script should look like this: curl.exe --user admin:YOURKEY » your.router.ip/restart.cgiThis is actually what it looked like for my old di-624, i've no idea what URL should your script point to, but this may give you a clue. It's funny to read many people stating 'no, it's impossible' just because they don't know how to do it. |

You mean like this? » www.makionv.com/2011/05/ ··· and.htmlIf so, that requires telnet, which this router does not have. If I am wrong though, and it works, let me know. |
