[Free] USB Oblivion 1.10.0.0 released

USBOblivion by Nikolay Raspopov
...utility designed to erase all traces of USB-connected drives and CD-ROMs from the registry in Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 32/64-bit versions.

The utility has a test mode of operation, i.e. without actually removing data from the registry, and, just in case, creates a .reg-file to undo any changes. There is also a fully automatic mode.

Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/8 32/64-bit w/Admin privileges

I like portable apps..........but this wants you to eject/remove all USB devices before running.

As I have 2 permanently connected........this seems a little over the top.

Can anyone provide a situation in where this software would come in useful? I'm simply curious as to whom this specifically targets and what type of situation would require such a drastic measure?

First i don't and have not used this software. Like ZZZZ posted i like the other program.
I am not sure why you would want to delete all USB device at one time but i guess it could not hurt, they should plupNplay the next time.

OK, I had issues before where i plugged in many devices one at a time and each came back as say 'drive I', Now when i had one of those plugged in and it was drive I, and then i plugged in a second one at the same time it would not mount because drive I was not free. Clearing the saved data would allow the USB device to work when both plugged in at the same time.

One other time i had issues when using a Magic Jack, it would use a few drive letters and then some of the USB drives that had used those drive letters would not work.

Then i had a USB printer, it had a few usb ports and memory card slots. It would add a drive letter when ever connected. This would case many problems as the drive was not ready for use until you plugged in a device to the printer but showed up in the PC. When you plugged in a USB device that had used that same driove letter before it would not work. The bigg problem was the printer driver letter would some times change for some reason and that would cause even more problems.

So there are times you need to remove the saved drive letter info from the registry to get device to work, this happens more if you have lots of devices. I have about 12 very large USB drives for storage and backup. I have about 5 small portable USB drive that i used for work, i have about 5 USB sticks, so that is about 22 usb devices and a usb printer. I have had this problems.
