... The Terrifying Shortage of U.S. Cyberwarriors.» www.nationaljournal.com/ ··· 20130225 from » www.hardocp.com/news/201 ··· arriors/"When the Soviet Union launched the first satellite in 1957, it set off an intellectual arms race that led to more than $1 billion of federal investment in science education. Within a decade, Americans were sending their own expeditions to outer space. Presidents and other public figures since then have made a tradition of referring to Sputnik to push their political agendas. But just because it's a convenient rhetorical lever doesn't invalidate the analogy. And when it comes to cybersecurity, it hits pretty close to the truth..." |

Spending huge money for conventional warfare is not enough for war mongers now. These days they want to get new money (from taxpayers, of course) and make extra profits from creating a new warfare, as they called it, "cyberwar". In the process those folks try to convince taxpayers, that country must have it. Because those Russians, Chinese, Palestinians, Iranians, etc. are allegedly making big advances in this area (really???). The fact, that so far the US only (in collaboration with Israel) is main figure, who develops and deploys viruses for attacking infrastructures of other countries, is not important for people to know. The shortage of the developers for such "war" viruses is... Thus, we have to accept now, that country has to allocate new budget money for that activity...
Bottom line, there always was, is and will be group of people, who makes huge profits form warfare. And to make it happen they always will yell something like this - "Terrifying Shortage of U.S. Cyberwarriors". They don't care, that the past two wars put this country into recession. They want more money for new wars they try to invent for us. And that, IMHO, is disgusting... |

"Shortage of U.S. Cyberwarriors"?! Get the confounded critical infrastructure and sensitive traffic terminals completely off the public, world-wide-accessible Internet, and you won't face adversaries who merely sit in the comfort of their cubicles and remotely penetrate your facilities like so many sitting ducks!!! /end rant. |

Haven't they been talking about an alternative network as you suggest for some time, but it just isn't happening? |

Putting critical infrastructure and sensitive communications off the public is a way too easy solution and doesn't promise huge money for warmongers. They will do all they can to convince everyone around how dangerous Internet is and, therefore, we need a big army of new "Cyberwarriors" to protect US from many, many adversaries (Hollywood and media will show us them, of course). And in order to do so, we need to increase budget spending on the new defense structure. It's a new Star War dream, but now in wires. Similarly misleading concept, but with a hope, that public is dumb enough to recognize that... |

Have you missed the recent news reports regarding the Chinese PLA and their Hacker division? How about some of the older reports of dead dropped thumb drives that people at the Pentagon stupidly plugged into their computers to determine who they might belong to, only to be hit with viruses. If you think the US and Israel are the only players then you have a dangerous mentality regarding what is quite a larger problem. |

Mad as hell I have been reading these stories for more then 10 years now.
I just can't believe we are still sitting on our ass. Why is any of this still on the public internet?
Hundreds of billions in IP stolen from us and we spend more time worrying about Hollywood movie piracy?
where are the trade sanctions? NOW! Where is Internet 3 and 4 for our critical infrastructure? I thought it was a dumb idea to get in bed with China 20 years ago. Meanwhile they flood our market with cheap junk and use the money to steal our Intellectual property to turn around and sell it back to us. And laugh about how dumb we are. |
