[OS X] remote mounting a shared disk in Snow Leopard

I have a shared time machine disk on my Imac (ML). I also have a MacBook running Snow Leopard. Time machine does not see the shared disk. I can see it in finder but not time machine.

Is there some way to mount this remote disk either via SL or bash??

Thanks

Have you tried mounting the disk on the MB, then selecting it via TM? I believe that's how I set mine up. I'm using a disk hanging off my iMac as a TM disk for my MBP.
