[Extreme Plus] Anyone having speed issues?

My upload is fine, download, not so much:

Should I blame Rogers or be looking for squirrels again? Or is this weather related? (though it's been down for a while)

Thing about speedtest.net is the site does not provide accurate results.

Since when? Aside from the odd time one of the many servers is experiencing issues, it always gives accurate results. Unless of course, multiple servers (located all over the world) are incorrect?

Accurate is of course debatable since speeds vary depending on the server you're connecting to, but I'm not aware of anything in particular that would constitute "does not provide accurate results" on any given normal day.

I'm interested to see a source on this claim.

What i were trying to say is it depends on the server so the speed can very.

Right. However, that does not make it inaccurate. Your speed given to a particular server is still accurate. Especially when using servers near you.

Oh look, more congestion.

Looks like they need to go split some more nodes yet again.

It can't be node congestion if only Kitchener server is showing slow speed. What that means is that transit to the Kitchener server is saturated or it might just be an issue with just the Kitchener server.

True.
May also mean all Kitchener users would be experiencing issues... Doesn't Rogers shunt traffic to Toronto for peering?

I've never found the Kitchener server to be reliable at all. Try the Nexicom server in Toronto.

If anyone is having speed issues with Hitron modem, I highly suggest you have a Rogers rep push the latest firmware to he modem.

I was having speed issues for weeks until finally tonight a smart rep saw that my modem was still using old firmware. I went from 150mbps down and 2mbps up to 250 down and 10 up. Amazing difference!

** and I repeated the test several times with the same results **

** newshosting downloads at 16.5 megabytes/sec **

I have the Cisco POS, but things seem back up to normal. Everything back up this morning to my usual 42/4.

Should be noted, issue also was affecting some stations on DTV, anything over 16.

I just got Rogers today and I am having varying speeds. I do have the Hitron modem so how do I find out which firmware I am on, and what is the newest one?

I'm on the old Ultimate in Mississauga:

edit: I think my router is acting up, actually. Browsing through it's admin pages is slow even after a reboot.

edit2: Yup, it was my router going bonkers.
