GEN4 Dish sizes/transmitter options?

Does anyone know??? I have signed up for the Business300 plan. the sales agent said all Gen4 have 0.98/2W (then few days later said different), the installer said 0.74/1W - but he could order a larger one.

Is there an option for 2W transmitter in the HT1000 setup?

Can use 0.98 dish with 1W transmitter?

under: »business.hughesnet.com/learn-more ;under ordering and customer care states ....more powerful dish that provides faster and more reliable service... (apparently for the older systems business plans?)

Other options?
Thanx

OK, no call back from sales. so tried pre-sales today..... from multiple phone numbers/persons, to technical support who states business accounts should be bigger dish on GEN4, sent back to pre-sales.

Finally got someone who agreed I should get 0.98M dish, but was not sure of transmitter wattage.

He gave me EDGEMARK TECHNOLOGIES to call and "straighten out the order". no answer (today Saturday), sounded like a cell phone voice mail.

Anyone with some insight?

@108.12.38.x

ive been a hughes tech for over a decade....as long as gen4 has been out, SME orders (small medium enterprise) have all been 74m antenna, 1w transmitter. i have yet to hear any information on that changing. i have installed 3 (sme orders) for jupiter/gen4 within the past month. keep in mind, NO static ip with gen4, last i knew.

I too have held off ordering a Gen4 business account. Last I checked, there were no equipment options beyond 74cm/1w. Only way the business account differs currently - is a matter of being assigned to a dedicated business gateway server and (allegedly) US-based tech support. Until they come up with some optional hardware, my 98cm/2w Ku-system will suffice.

Update:
HN indirectly said "no" on a larger dish..... ie. the 0.74/1 would work fine.
I kept looking. e-chatted with Tom at Montana satellite. very helpful. they also have a good FAQ. I will put them on the "like" list

unfortunate that the HT1000 dish can't be "tweaked" without risking system failure until an installer comes out with a "code".

Bottom line: seems that a larger dish/transmitter is not available at this time.

Installer did not come today. We'll hopefully see how the 0.74/1 works in a week.

Thanx for everyones input in the forum.

Well, got GEN4 today. A trainer and trainee did the install. They did a good job and knew what they were doing.

I can only get the 10/2 plan, HN said later in year the 15/2 may be available. On spot beam 25. The bonus bytes say unlimited. and the anytime bytes did reset already.

My GEN4 speeds are 3000-10000/300-900 averaging about 5000/400.....

tremendously better than my prior KU HN7000s rated at 1500/300....peak speeds bout 300/100 or much worse than dialup

Did have some trouble using the old network and the HT1000... old router (handing out IP addresses) to another router used a switch. Had to go from HT1000 to a switch then to a router used as a switch that is fed by port 1. prior was dong weird things ie. could get to the HT1000 and google, but could not click on any google links. tried many ports (1-4, internet) and configurations until it worked.

GEN4 so far so good.

was told to call the sales line to "register" my unit. they sent me to TS who sent me to somewhere else and then on hold 45 min... then hung up as had to do something else.

so will keep both GEN4 and old unit in parallel for a while to be sure I don't have to keep the old unit.

I initially had a browser address problem too, but fixed it by simply changing the router default DHCP to range from 192.168.2.100 to 192.168.2.200

Check your hourly diagnostics, mine was constantly red across the board on Downlink. In the general stats, my signal strength never got above 92, and both the Rate Code and Modcod were poor. Pretty sure all was due to the low receive level and the associated fragmentation errors. Tried shifting to another beam (I'm centered under two overlapping beams), no luck. Installer never was able to get it to pass OVT

So in my case, it proved wise to keep the HN7000S account active during the 30 day Gen4 "trial period". After 2 weeks working with a frustrated installer, I dismantled the outdoor equipment and came back up on my 7000 system. From there I was able go get a RMA to return the TRIA and modem, and cancel the Gen4 account.

OK thanx, just have DNS acceleration [N] errors. not sure if that is bad.

at 22, 23, 04, 05, 11 (hundred hours)

also interesting that the network time is 4 hours ahead of me. ie it is 8:40 my time and 12:40 network time

so at 22 is actually 18 (when I re-routed the power cord and it restarted)

I seem to recall that Hughes is using GMT as network time. Eastern Daylight Savings Time is currently GMT -4
