 | reply to CappinHoff Central Missouri Mediacom customer here and DNS lookup fails every time. Not sure if the auto dns lookup is failing or what, but changing to either the google DNS lookup (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) or open dns (208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220) got me back on track . |

 | reply to CappinHoff Same issue here, getting a DNS issue on my Playstation and my Nexus wont get on the net at all either, but my PC gets on fine and my Vonage is working fine (dont think Vonage goes into the DNS at all). Think I have my PC set to a different DNS. |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff I haven't used Mediacom DNS in years. This is why. -- I speak for myself, not my employer. |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff DNS error message here. Cable tv works fine. |

 | reply to CappinHoff Cedar Rapids, IA here. Same DNS issue. Service started getting really slow a couple hours ago, and then about 10 minutes ago it just died.
So then I activated the cellular service on my iPad and went to Mediacom's website to see if there was a reported outage. I entered my zip code in the box, pressed "Go", and got an error screen that said (in microscopic letters):
"1040: too many connections"
Which kind of sounds like a database problem. But who knows. Whatever it is, it's very annoying. |

Gentoo join:2013-02-06 Murphysboro, IL | reply to CappinHoff Same here, I can ping Mediacom's DNS server but it won't resolve anything. So I just switched mine over to level 3's for the time being. |

 | reply to CappinHoff Huh...DNS servers were on Mediacom all this time, must of gotten reset at some point. Changed to Google's. All better. |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff One issue is the first thing people do when Medaicom has an issue is reset their modems....when that does not help...they do it again....and again...a (sigh) again. I know this becasue thats what I do (or did, just set my router to a different DNS) |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff Problem solved there, just changed my router to 4.2.2.1 and now everything is logging in. At least that wont get switched back again |

| reply to CappinHoff Dead in the water here (Cedar Rapids). Mine started getting weird and ultimately died at about 4:30 (per my modem's time. Spent a bit troubleshooting as my modem, router and network couldn't agree if they were actually connected to the net (they aren't). Luckily I have a smart phone... *did* manage to get past the "too many connections" on the site to see nothing planned, but no luck either with getting through phone.
Thanks Chad, for chiming in to at least suggest it's something big (ie, not just me) and that somebody's at least aware. Any ideas on an ETA? Unfortunately I don't know how to change DNSs... |

|
 | reply to Zoomer30 If so many people are having issues in Iowa (cedar rapids here) is it Mediacom issue? Or do I have to set my router to different nber? |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff Same issue here in the Clinton Iowa area. |
|
 | reply to CappinHoff Changed to 4.2.2.1 as well and all is well for now. I have to admit, I didn't know it was even possible to steer around dns issues. |
