[CenturyTel] Bandwith Exhaustion excuses and Attenuation
Over the last week I have spent more than 2 hours trying to get my connection in some bare minimum of acceptable use.
To start out, the BEST available service I can get from Centurytel is 1.5/256 which is crap to begin with. Now imagine getting .5 or LESS and still being charged 40 a month while they continue to represent consistent service that isn't affected by your neighbors use. I actually read that as directed to MY area!
So I call and complain. They say "do you know you have bandwith exhaustion in your area". Yes I do. I've known it for more than 9 months because that is the FIRST thing they say every time I call. If I get the right tech support guy, he will look a little deeper and see the attenuation issue. "You are at 6 and you should NEVER be less than 9 with us.
If I am lucky and get a tech that will even write up a ticket, I have a 50/50 chance someone will actually come out and look at the line. And the tech NEVER calls me regardless of what the ticket says. So in the last 2 weeks I called 5 times. Once on a friday, they came out on the following monday and it was fixed. Until the following Thursday. I waited, think maybe its temporary... but it continues so I finally call on Saturday. So Sunday the scheduler calls me to be sure I still need service. Monday, no call. Tech closed the ticked for bandwith exhaustion. Call Monday Night, they reissue the ticket to look at the attenuation. AGAIN its closed with "bandwith exhaustion nothing we can do".
Over an Hour with customer service and they seriously offered to get me 19.95 a month for a year if I would sign a contract. REALLY?
So I know this can be fixed or that they can at least reroute some traffic so that that I can get somewhere close to what I pay for. What are the right words/tech to get someone that knows what they are doing that can address this?

File a complaint with:
federal trade commission - for false advertising.
FCC - to get CL to send you a funny letter.
State attorney general - for false advertising.
It has been this way in many parts of their service area for many years, in mine for going on 6 years now. They know that we have no choice.
