What's Up with Sprint today?

averaging every 30 to 45min, for the past 12 hours I have been losing my data feed.

no disconnects, no loss of signal strength. Just loss of feed, which cancels any download or upload that is currently running. Driving me and my clients crazy as I have to ask for re-sends and they have to ask for re-sends.

Is this anyway to run a business???

putting on my Tin Foil Hat

I now think that Sprint...because it is the only one of the 3 carriers to offer UNLIMITED DATA has adapted the strategy of dropping signal when the service area gets close to being overloaded.

This conclusion comes from monitoring my speeds. When the speed approaches the low....30 to 20 to 15 kbs there is a dropout in the data feed..Dosen't disconnect....but causes the user(me) to disconnect and reconnect.

Thus, the customer chooses to disconnect and reconnect...IT IS NOT SPRINT doing the disconnection due to overload.

(I'm sure some high IQ Harvard/Yale/Princeton/IvyLeague grad Wall$treet rejected applicant, has thought this thru)

when I reconnect I get 90 to 1.2 and then over the hour it slows and slows and

wash rinse repeat.

dosen't cost Sprint a dime in extra infastructure...yet they can keep on keeping on offering Unlimited Data.

How long can they get away with this tactic????

first you are a TIN FOIL HAT
Then there are so many TIN HATs that, well they all can't be all TIN HATs...maybe there's something to it.
Then they'll maybe admit there is something amiss
Then maybe say we're looking into it.
yadayadayada

a month...2 months?
Till the next earning report...????

Till the Softbank deal gets approved by the FCC and FTC and they get a big cash influx so they can really go out and throw cash at the problems . They cannot afford to drop the unlimited data thing as that is the only thing getting new customers for them . And they really cannot go out and make the needed upgrades yet.

so by my calculations, I should lose it in about 15 min

Last Result:

Download Speed: 352 kbps (44 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 498 kbps (62.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 81 ms

LOL

I'd really love to get a hardline Broadband....too bad VZ ditched FIOS expansion dosen't want to do DSL any more and Comcast finds me a loss if they run me a cable.

Anybody else out there ....competition???? anyone????

didn't think so.
________________________________________________________

Why isn’t there more competition among cable providers?

Cable companies long ago divided the markets between themselves and never entered each other’s territories. Verizon FiOs fiber is a better high-speed Internet system because it is symmetric, which means better download and upload speeds. But because FiOs only overlaps with 15 percent of cable territory, companies like Comcast effectively had no competition.

Will wireless ever be a realistic competitor to cable?

Although 4G LTE wireless says download speeds are equivalent to slow cable connections, the two leading wireless companies, AT&T and Verizon Wireless, impose data caps, which are commonly about 1 to 2 gigabits a month. So if you watch one video, you will blow your monthly capacity allowance. It takes 3.5 gigs of data to stream one high-definition video.

And the real difference is capacity. The wireless networks deal with real capacity issues. That’s why 83 percent of smartphone users have a wired connection at home.

How is the FCC dealing with the nation’s transition to broadband services?

The decision two years ago to carry out legal gymnastics to avoid being viewed as a regulator in connection to high-speed Internet access has twisted the FCC into knots.

Basic telecom services are expensive to install but cheap to add additional customers once it’s built out. If private actors are allowed to have their way, they will divide the market and charge the same number of people for second-rate services. They are leaving out poorer and rural markets and squeezing out the middle class.

in my area they have made a TON of upgrades...but it's still not enough ... as you well know Wireless can never deliver the Streaming Video that wired BBand can.

»network.sprint.com/search/21776/

they've made 1 data and 3speed upgrades since I last checked about a month ago

Obviously . They do not have enough money to make the needed changes . Just throwing band aids on them till they have some real cash .

never say never. When I first moved to my county 14 years ago there was nothing but dialup. In 2000 Sprint installed 4 towers for cell-voice, in 2007 they installed 3G/EVDO. 2011 a Wisp rolled out BB coverage, and then Verizon added 3 cell towers. Then Metrocast cable wired the entire county with fiber broadband. A week ago Verizon turned on LTE ... so we went from nothing to several options ...in a county of 9200 folks. Zip 23068 ... It happens.

if you look at that Sprint Upgrade map you will see how they and Vz..(you look up VZ's LTE on your own)
have lit up a ton of LTE in the same area...AT$T is also very much in the game. This being the New Suburbs for Balt and Wash DC. Talking about some Farming(gee that sure looks pretty but it sure stinks) Mostly BEDROOM commuters...who wear suits not coveralls and drive to work 40m one way.

What you won't see are any expansion of FIOS(not gonna happen) Comcast Cable...not unless you buy a home in a New Development(min 4 X $300K+ houses)

So what are we left with....Overtaxed Wireless BB, which will never have the capacity or the Prices to deliver NetFlix/Hulu/Home HD video exchange.... for anything less than what $50/5gigs....give me a break.

That's like back in the way back when a Long Distance Call on AT&T...no other phone company but us...costs $XXXXper minute..

Want to call Grandma on Christmas Day...oh we'll give you a discount.

any other time "Five dolla' or no call"

This Problem Continues.

I called the Millen Help line today...but they said well we can't help because Sprint won't tell us anything.

What I told them was:

at just shy of 10 mins past the hour....every hour...I will lose my data feed. The line will not disconnect...I will just lose the feed.

If I am away wating for a download to finish and do not "reconnect" the line will, after 10 minutes disconnect with an ERROR 668 Conncection was Terminated. Either way the Download is Busted and has to be restarted.

This happens like clockwork....at 10 mins past the hour.

The teck Wrote A Ticket...shrugged....and said I could call back...but they prob would have no information

How is railing at Millenicom going to do any good . They are a reseller . Not their network . I think you may have to rethink your business model . If your business relies on reliable unlimited internet service . And your current location does not have that readily available . Relocating may be your only answer .Is there a restaurant or coffee shop that has free wifi, in your area that you could make friends with till this is resolved . That way you could go a couple times a day to make urgent downloads. Just trying to think outside the box for you .

Hey MAX...I'm not railing against Millenicon...I'm just posting what is happening

By the way....What is your beef with anyone who in anyway criticises the Broadband situation in the USofA

It varies from "You don't have a Consititutional Right" to telling me to MOVE or Find another business model.

It starts to get really old , everyone feels for you . But you choose to live where you live and that is where there is not reliable high speed internet. But I bet there are tons of other things that make it a great place . You have made your choice .
This country is so far in debt . It would be a beautiful thing if everyone had high speed ! But who is going to pay for it ?

There's lots of Verizon LTE around New Windsor, have you checked into that?

Yes, I tried that route and had the setup from Millen at my house, since all the VZ maps showed I was in LTE but not exactly FullOn LTE at my address. Well no signal, not even 3G on my property....1/4 mile down the road...yes.......I'm terrain challenged LOL

And since I've been with Millen for 5+ years they made the entire experiment/return painless.

Back to the weird Sprint related dropped feeds.

Today the dropped feeds have migrated 30 min on the clock....now ...since I started work today....it's in the half past the hour that they occur....7:37, 8:34, 9:32, 10:28.
Edit: add 11:27, 12:17 to that list

Go Figure.

As noted in an earlier post Sprint has been going big time upgrading the towers around here.....and I've had good...if somewhat at times Overloaded type service since those upgrades went in.

This droppage is perplexing in that it occurs like clockwork. And yet mores around day to day.

Maybe it's the Chinese?

Think I had the same thing with Verizon a year or two ago, the internet would just randomly stop working sometimes for an hour at a time, mine never did it as bad as that though, over time it just stopped doing it and starting working ok again, not sure what the problem was no one could really tell me anything, DSL has become available to me since then, hopefully eventually you will get some kind of stable wired broadband, there is still some hope, I live out in the middle of nowhere, I mean theres like 5 house within a mile of me, and my telco (windstream) got stimulus money to bring broadband to extremely rural areas. What telco or cable company is in your area?
