1 edit | [GPU]Red colors are dull and very dark Hi all,
Lately I've noticed my desktop is not so vibrant anymore. I also noticed that I can't produce any vibrant red colors in Photoshop. In Photoshop the blues, greens, yellows, purples are still vibrant and bright but the reds are basically a dark reddish brown. I haven't tested my monitor on another machine yet because I don't have access to one at the moment.
My monitor: 11 year old CRT Viewsonic P225 Professional Series. »www.manualslib.com/manual/335386···2#manual
All connections seem fine, no bent pins on the VGA connector, etc.
My GPU is integrated Nvidia Geforce 6150 LE. Specs: »h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu···=1841849
EDIT: I forgot to mention I ran the 'Colorific Monitor Calibration' software that came with this monitor and it tells me the gamma levels of my GPU are set too low, then it tries to correct the gamma levels but nothing happens. I tried manually raising the gamma levels but all it does is make the screen look like an over exposed photo. -- Stop The Mindless Killings Stop Over Fishing |

2 edits | have you tried another screen?
Plus look at the bright side your computer should see increased performance when using photoshop
NVIDIA 6150LE = nForce4 class chipset
does not require a PCI-E power cable
I have one in my dads computer it only has a cheapo low end 350w Power supply AMD 64 (939) DFI-SLI Nvidia nForce 4 SLI 3gig 8800gt (non eco)
I have a spare 9800GT eco card 112 CUDA Cores 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
just needs a fan replacement. for 40 shipped (ball bearings are a little noisy ) -- Well, does your car at least turn into something else? Sometimes I turn it into a trashcan. Hmm... |

| No, I still have been unable to test my monitor at this time.
Thank you for the offer but I'm mulling over just replacing the card with something better or a completely new system with much more power. I prefer the latter but I really had my heart set on building my own system. I'm tired of purchasing brand name machines with preloaded crap. I especially do not want Windows 8. -- Stop The Mindless Killings Stop Over Fishing |

If you want a machine more like you would build it go to one of the boutique gaming pc makers like ibuypower or cyberpower. I got mine from ibuypower and love it. I specified which motherboard maker and video card (although there is a limited selection) but they are all standard parts. Build quality was great and I even had a choice of colors (which made the wife happy) |

 | reply to dolphins This certainly would be an excellent excuse to upgrade. 11 years is a pretty good run for a monitor and that video card is probably tired too and wants to retire. |
