Rant -Verizon CS

This evening I called Verzion CS for assistance with Thunderbird after I received a Verizon email about changes in email ports. Verizon said they couldn't help me since they don't support Thunderbird. Well KMA Verizon.

I wouldn't expect them to support Thunderbird. I'd be impressed if they supported Outlook.

Did you google "FiOS" and "Thunderbird"?

I got at least 6 hits on the first page talking about how to configure...

In frustration, I gave Senor Google a call and found the solution to my issue. I suppose I should ask Verizon for a discount since my account doesn't seem to qualify for customer service!

And so it goes.

Why should they help you? Just get the ports, servers, authentication methods, and setup the mail client from the thunderbird help. I can take the information from another programs configuration, and just apply that to thunderbird, it's that simple.

No wonder the tier 1 help is there to handle questions like this... People who can't search, or press F1.

No wonder plumbers, mechanics, electricians, taxi drivers, and handy men of all sorts exist.
