[Speed] [Speed]-Slow speeds in Elmhurst, NY

Been getting really slow speeds in the past month during peak hours 7-11pm EST. Technician came around today and just replaced the modem. Still getting similar speeds. I'm paying for 25/2 service. Been with RCN for close to 5 years now. I will be patient, but if a technician can't fix it.. who can?

Mod Note: Removed Mac Address

And my friend who lives down the block recently got an upgrade to 25/2 and is getting 20mbs during the same peak times. So is there some sort of discrimination against older loyal customers?

Bump:

So ever since my post, my speed has gotten better, peak or non peak getting at least 15mbs. So I thought someone read my post and fixed it and I was so happy.

But then this weekend I started getting really slow speeds...again. Almost bad as before my first post (see picture). Peak/non-peak. That test was conducted at 3pm...

Same here.

Most of RCN outages happen on the weekends, but they will never admit it.

As usual, the only cure they can offer is an opportunity to post your MAC address.

Bump again, speeds are roughly the same as previous which is far off from what I am paying for. It has almost been 2 months already and phone calls are resulting in the same results. It's also more noticeable during peak times, virtually becoming unusable even for youtube videos.

I'm really disappointed that RCN constantly thinks its our side that has the problem when I see 4/5 people here in Elmhurst that has the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's not our individual houses that has the problem and maybe it's a line somewhere. I wish RCN would be proactive and actually check this problem out on a macro scale. I'd understand if it was one individual, but we're talking multiple people here.

I hear ya.
I'm also in elmhurst. on the 50/6 package.
Any time between 7pm and midnight my speeds tank during weekdays (around 5-8mbps download)
Weekend is worse, right now I tested my speeds. around 15mbps if im lucky. By the time its 10PM. It will become 4mbps or worse. I got in touch with the regional dispatch manager about a 1.5 weeks ago. He took the info for the problems I was having. Said he would call me back the next day. I believed him. Never heard back even after I left several voicemails.
Apparently, they don't want to acknowledge anything.

Re: [Speed] [Speed]-Slow speeds in Elmhurst, NY

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'm also a resident of Elmhurst, NY with the 50/6 package. Speeds barely hit 3Mbps during the hours of 9-11PM and its extremely frustrating as this has been happening for about 2-3 months.

I called tech support, and they closed the tickets a few days later saying they didn't find anything. A tech came anyway and said they would fix it in a few days, nothing ever happened. The speeds are still the same.

During off peak hours during the afternoon the speeds are ok, but there is definitely something wrong.
