Verizon ZTE Jetpack LTE L890 blocking websites

I've been having a problem for about 3 months now with the new VZW ZTE Jetpack LTE L890 device blocking (or just not allowing certain traffic) to multiple websites. Specifically MY websites. Our cutsomer service folks receive 3-4 calls a day regarding this issue.

When I contacted VZW in December, they claimed it was a "Known Problem" affecting "a few" websites. They also promised follow up within 24-48 hours. I've been patiently waiting for 3 months now and no response from VZW... so I called again. Got a new ticket number and a promise to follow up in a couple of days.

According to the VZW Tech Rep, the new firmware to address the issue is in QA testing, but there is no release date set. Meanwhile about 1000+ of MY customers think our website is the issue. We have made several attempts to get this issue escalated by VZW and had our customers call and complain, but nothing seems to be getting their attention.

Is anyone else having this issue with the ZTE Jetpack L890? Is anyone from VZW even paying attention to this problem with their new "Flagship LTE Hotspot"??????

Many 4620l Mifi's did the same thing, mine included until a firmware release finally did away with it. It was almost a year I think before they addressed it.

I can't get to some sites with my mifi. Ticks me off to no end. I guess we have to find a lawyer who's site is being blocked that will do a class action. Because with this mifi, I have NO way of getting to the sites. This should be an important issue and have a fix a few months ago.

wineguard.com for one. I've run into a couple other ones, but can't remember.

It appears that Verizon no longer offers this device for sale on their websites, but BestBuy still offers it under Verizon's name.

After 45 days of waiting on a 24 hour response from Verizon Tech Support.. I've called again complaining. Now I find that Verizon has "CLOSED" my reports (both ticket numbers) as "WAITING ON ZTE TO FIX FIRMWARE".

Since this has been an outstanding issue for at least 6 months ( and probably since the device first came out).... It seems odd that neither Verizon nor ZTE seems to be either responsive to these issued.

Out of my /25 block.... 8 IP addresses are blocked by the ZTE device. Curiously only HTTP and HTTPS are blocked.... ping works just fine.

The latest from Verizon Wireless seems to be to press the issue through their tech support process..... If your device is under warranty and your account is in good standing, they will most likely replace the device for you (they are for me). I would recommend NOT getting any device manufactured by ZTE given their total lack of support.

Best of luck.

Ok.. I just received a Verizon Novatel 4GLTE device to replace the ZTE L890 device. The EXACT SAME problem occurs. 14 out of 128 IP Addresses in my IP/25 group are blocked.

Since 2 different devices from 2 different manufacturers have EXACTLY the same problem, I can only presume that it is not the consumer device but Verizon's LTE hardware.

Even more curious, using Tethering to my iPhone 5 (with LTE), ALL of my addresses are available. I am guessing, but I suspect that VZW uses different Cell Hardware to talk to the iPhones vs the ZTE/Novatel hardware. Only Verizon knows for sure.

It would be real nice is someone from Verizon could escalate this issue to get resolution for BOTH OF OUR CUSTOMERS (mine and VZW).

Verizon???? Any response??? Can you hear me now?

RESOLVED: Verizon ZTE Jetpack LTE L890 blocking websites

The Novatel Jetpack 4620L must be upgraded to firmware level 3.20.11 to address the issue of IP Address Blocking.

It appears that the underlying firmware changes the IP address that the device connects to IP 70.209.68.x. Once this is applied, the problems connecting to IP address mysteriously goes away.

After 4 months of outstanding problems with JetPack hardware there is a solution.

Re: Verizon ZTE Jetpack LTE L890 blocking websites

Your device can only render websites designed adhering to IPv4[internet protocol version 4].If the website you are trying to access only supports IPv6[provides no backward compatibility],then yourdevice cannot open the webpage of this website.
