Re: [Cable] TSI West (Shaw): Speed during peak hours?

Too early in the day to be 100% sure (I'll see how it does tonight). It seems the problem router's been fixed. I've been able to max out the connection consistently for the first time in about five months and the packet loss seems to be gone. More importantly, I can stream from my Slingbox in HD for the first time since Dec.

Yesterday and now today I've noticed a marked improvement in the quality of service. I am once again getting low pings and 24.5/2.45 on my 25/2.5 connection. It's been great since the service outage was resolved.

Data loss before change @ 03:40 > 04:20, improvement after
I've noticed an improvement in the last couple of days.

It looks like a network change occurred on June 07 between 03:40 & 4:20 am PST.

I've not heard any word from techsavvy support on the matter since the 6th...

Data Loss disappears after change on morning of June 7
This probably highlights the improvement better!

My issues seem fixed. Loss is mostly gone and I can hit 22+Mbps when I am trying to use the internet now.

@ fluffybunny, Jedarius, bbbc, decx, blindpuppet - What speeds are you seeing during the evening now?

I'm also watching this thread with interest.....I'm at a renewal point with Telus and not wanting to continue with a higher cost but I run my business mostly online and I also work through youtube - I can't run that risk. When I did have Shaw in my home I did constantly have great solid speeds, so I don't know if I would be affected by these issues or not. But then I'm more of an amateur with experience. Not on some of your guy's level at this point.

I am very impressed with the community though. I'm also glad to see some users are seeing some improvement. Thanks for all of the updates.

We've changed some routing on our end a few days back. It appears one of our transit providers wasn't very transparent about their problems...

@ fluffybunny, Jedarius, bbbc, decx, blindpuppet (and other affected Vancouver customers):

Teksavvy is refusing to credit my account for service issues. I've never experienced this with an ISP before - truly amazing!

Would you mind posting a quick write-up of:
1) when you first saw an issue
2) when you reported to teksavvy
3) nature of the problem
4) Teksavvy's support interaction
5) If any credit was offered by Teksavvy

Please feel free to pm me if you don't want to post here.

After the router packet loss issue was fixed last week everything work as it's supposed to. That is until Tuesday when my line loss sync (one problem fixed for me, another one appears) . I'm still waiting for Shaw to get back to TSI with a date/time, so I can't really post a speed.
