Extreme 105 - Tech roll & install fee?

I called Comcast this morning to upgrade from Performance (16/2, going to 20/4 shortly) to Extreme 105/20. I was expecting that the rep would be able to make the switch and provision immediately since my areas has also seen the free bump for 50/10 customers to 105/20 and the price drop.

The rep put me on hold for a bit and came back saying that a tech roll and $250 install fee is still required. This is a bit surprising since 50/10 customers got a bump to 105/20 without any tech visits. I believe my eMTA, Arris TM722G, is compatible.

Can anyone confirm if the rep I spoke to was incorrect? I'd love to get 105/20, but I'm not interested in paying for a $250 install given that my area has seen the free bump from 50/10 up to 105.

Thanks!

Since you didn't already have an upper tear service, you still need a tech visit to check levels and such before they will provision it.

What if you just bumped to the Blast! Speeds which then will get you 105 speeds anyways instead of asking directly for the Extreme 105?

Blast! will go to 50/10. If he gets on current Blast! then he will be going to 50/10, not 105/20 like he wants.

I think you mean to go to the current 50/10 which doesnt require the $250 and then this current 50/10 tier will get bumped to 105/20?

Not for free it won't.

Isnt that what has been going around lately? That current Blast! will go to 50/10 and current 50/10 will go to 105/20 with no price difference?

Yes, if one "currently" has it.

Ok good, now, what stops you from ordering 50/10 *right now* and wait until you get 105/20 for no difference in $?

(I'm assuming the current 50/10 tier doesnt have the $250 install fee that the current 105/20 tier does)

Thanks all for the replies. I think a few of you misunderstood my original post.

My area has *already* had the free bump for old 50/10 customers to 105/20. So because I called *today* and specifically ordered 50/10, I'm paying the new, lower price for 50/10. I won't get bumped to 105/20 unless I call back and say I will pay the additional $40 or so per month AND agree to the $250 install fee.

I was hoping that since Comcast is now bumping the old 50/10 customers (who did not originally need a special install the get the service if I remember correctly) that any customers who would like 105/20 would be able to get it without paying for a tech roll.

just did this a week ago. you will get bumped up. If you go to a service center you may get the $79 Extreme 50 for 6 months and you'll get bumped to 105 with in a month.

Yes no truck roll or install fee for Extreme 50 if you have a D3 modem.
