 | reply to TSI Duty Mgr Down in Orleans too. |
|
 | reply to NytOwl Nice way to start sunday. Is the frequency of outages (dns, congestion, any reason) going up? Pffffff |
|
 | reply to patentclots Yep. Down in Orleans. Woke up to nothing. This is the second time in the past month there have been problems with this POI. Very frustrating. |
|
 | reply to patentclots I have found teksavvy service absolutely horrible in the last 6 months. I can never find a consistent pattern to the outages, but I am constantly restarting the modem ( 7 to 8 times a day ). Frustratung thing is that in the past when I have called for help, they tell me they can't help me unless I call when it is down, and stays down for a while so they can test it. It never happens this way. Down briefly. Starts again. Down. Starts again .... etc. Really annoying service. |

 | reply to FireFlyFini let s see how long it's going to take...
i'm guessing 3, if we are lucky.. and i hope i'm wrong.
today they realize and email `the guy` at rogers. tomorrow rogers folks go to work and read the email, fire it off to techs. tuesday, they go out and fix it. AND test it if they feel like it.
i think this is the best case scenario. i do hope i'm wrong because i have a shitload of work to do and cant to anything on 3g...
how sad is it to have to increase your 3g quota because your isp takes for ever to resolve outages ( |

 | reply to patentclots Yep,
I'm on George street in the Byward Market ....
Down here of course ....
So .... big question is .... how long does it take to recover from a fibre cut?
And also, how on earth did the fibre get cut in the first place? -- .... and the monkey flips the switch. |

 | reply to patentclots We've received an update that it should be back up around noon. Thank you for your patience everyone. -- E-Services Team Leader Authorized TSI employee - Teksavvy Solutions Inc. |

 | thank you for the quick updates.. |
|
 | So apparently it was a scheduled power outage in Kemptville. How does a power outage in Kemptville affect the St. laurent POI? |
|
 | reply to TSI Jonathan Down at Blair/Ogilvie as well. |
|
 | reply to MacGyver If it is a fibre cut, then I guess all of us east of Bank street are SOL for a while. |
|
 | reply to smerrikin A provider's infrastructure (including fiber) can be composed of many interworking/networking points where traffic may be getting routed onto other owned infrastructure or upstream service providers (e.g., perhaps a dark fiber provider that Teksavvy uses).
A power outage in Kemptville would look like a fiber cut until you started digging into and troubleshooting the issue - the physical equipment is powered down and you are not receiving light. The same happens when a backhoe cuts a line - the light goes away.
Normally a provider would anticipate a scheduled outage and move traffic onto other resources as part of the maintenance. However this is not always possible or "worth" the effort. |
