[MB] Why is my internet so slow?

I am trying to download Yellowdog 6.2 DVD a free linux Distro and can't seem to get it going. I started a torrent now for nearly a day and a half and it wont start.

I just got shaw internet but so far I am extremely disappointed at my speeds the wife is furious with me. She threatened if I dont spend less time with the computer and my imaginary domainer friends she going to leave me. However I really want this program and can't seem to download it.

So slow I and it wont load is there anything I can do?

As well I noticed that between 6pm - 11pm every day my speed goes from around 14-16MBS of the 20MBS plan to around 1-4 during these peak hours every day. Is this just something prone with shaw? Every day its as slow or slower than my dsl package which had twice the upstream and about the same download during these times and the latency was better. Overall I am really unhappy.

I have the business package too and I thought business was suppose to be reserved and faster? I dont know any suggestions? Will it improve? Any Dnu updates planned for winnepeg? Or should I just shut this all down and forget it and just go back to residential service I had years back. Maybe this business plan is more trouble than its worth and causing problems. I can't see any of shaws pointers two to western canada and worried what this plan is doing. Is it causing problems is it me? lol what if anything can be done about it. Anyway any advice?

Thanks, Phil Lopez

If it is congestion, it looks like it, congestion affects residental and business connections the same.

Also, Shaw Business doesn't have a 20 mbps plan? I am sure I have seen you reference a few different plans that you are on though so I have no idea what is going on...

Lastly, Yellow Dog Linux, from their download page highest is 6.1 and not a torrent download »www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/downloads/
HTTP FTP and RSYNC are listed.

Right on thanks I never found that website! Finally a direct download link I been waiting for this thing to start for 5 months. I guess this torrent 6.2 update I have is someones idea of a practical joke.

Well its good to finally download this I been trying to test this out for some time.

Actually the 6.2 is the current for Yellow Dog 6 though it old now. »distrowatch.com/table.php?distri···ellowdog

from »www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/downloads/ there is »ydl.oregonstate.edu/releases/yellowdog-6.2/

The oregonstate is a nice mirror and they mirror a number of opensource projects and help host a number of opensource related sites.
