Mine has been slow since about mid 2010 and they just fixed it. Here max speed is 3m, but I am 1000 ft from the DSLAM with many db of signal, so that has never been the limit. But this fix apparently has nothing to do with the new rollout in some rural areas, of which I am apparently part. This was an issue with the old system.
Now there are new cabinets all over town not hooked up. I bet they don't have the money to hook them up. They were purchased with rural internet stimulus money from articles I have read lately.
If you still have a grace period to get out of a contract do it if you have an alternative. |

Aaron Specialist II Sent Pm, I dont see this fixing anything our service slows and reboots itself during the mid-day, and sometimes early morning, The only assumption I've made is the DSLAM is at its capacity considering this is the only service provider around, If the damn company would take the time to upgrade we wouldn't be having this crap issue. |

In the early summer of 2011 I started having the same issues. I went all summer and into the fall fighting with tech support. They finally did something to help the situation , but in late may of 2012 the high pings ans slow download times begin again but if it were possible became even worse. Since then the internet has been the absolute worst service from a company I have ever experienced. No other sub-par company has even come close to this shit service.
They finally ran fiber and two weeks ago they had the power to the DSLam turned on. Since then NOTHING has happened. Right before the internet crapped out in 2012 for the 2nd time I had spent over $1,000 dollars on computer upgrades to play BF3, and my kids play WOW . Since then I have been unable to play BF3. You can't play that game with a 200+ ping period. I used to be able to talk to the local service manager for my area, but for some reason he refuses to answer any of my calls now, though I have been extremely polite to him.
The short of the story is if you expect good service do NOT use Windstream if you can help it. When people buy a product they expect it to work at least close to advertised. Windstream seems to think that we are unreasonable to expect such a thing. |
