1 edit | [Speed] cable modem - Chicago [chicago] I find that my internet speeds are slow, and then I reset my cable modem, and they are fine. I have to do this often. Do I need a new modem? |

 | quite a few years ago, I saw similar behavior. At first, a firmware update helped. But then it started to slow again. In the end it was the modem. |

Now in the past week, my modem has been dropping connection with all lights out, blinking to reconnect. It only reconnect once I reset my modem. It was only weekly now it's every other day. Do you think my modem is the culprit or could it be my line tweedling in the wind?

Re: [Speed] cable modem - Chicago Just out of curiosity, is your modem looking OK, spec wise?
My transmit power is fine (41.2dBmV).
My Forward Power and SNR are out of spec.
Forwards Power is -14 dBmV, and (F)SNR is 29.8dB.
No splitters on the line, either.. |
