why does millenicom not have a BYOD plan for Verizon?

I have a Verizon 4510L mifi hotspot, that we used before on Verizons expensive plans. Millenicom says the only way we can get Verizon service from them is to buy the exact same hotspot from them. Anyone know why their Verizon plans don't have a BYOD like sprint? Should the speeds be the same as my Verizon hotspot was getting and are the Millenicom Verizon hotspots new (because I know for sure that our hotspot works great, and has no problems)?

Maybe Verizon won't let them reactivate them , probably has to be a device Verizon has supplied them . That way Verizon does not loose customers in mass that switch to Millenicom.

Well, if nothing else you can sell your old hotspot to take some of the sting out.

verizon is sometimes a stinker.

It is not in the agreement between Millenicom and Verizon to offer BYOD devices. Verizon controls that. You will however get a upgrade to a 4620LE from your 4510L

The thing that scares me about that is what else did Verizon not agree too. No full 20GB 4g speeds maybe?. No full speed that Verizon is capable of? Since i know Verizon is a good internet company because they have mostly 4g compared to anywhere else.. Does millenicom get equal service like Verizon gives? I'm just making sure i get what i pay for if i buy another 100 dollar hotspot.

Not allowing BYOD is actually fairly standard practice. I do think eventually verizon will as with the 4g they had to open up their network a bit more than in the past and allow more devices access. You can use any verizon 4g device you wish, but millenicom cannot sell just the sim card, it has to come with the device as well. The hotspot you buy is actually worth considerably more than the $99 they charge. If you don't want it, sell it on ebay and recoup your money. The 4620LE is actually a step ahead of your current 4510 though.

As stated on this and many other forums many times . You get exactly the same coverage and speeds as a Native Verizon user. Except

1) Higher Data Limits
2) No Taxes
3) No contract

Any other Millenicom users out there will confirm this .

In other words stop worrying so much

I am East Texas also and when I left Verizon 3G to Millenicom 3G, there was absolutely nothing different other than not checking my usage as much since I now had more to use. I'm on 4G now with Millenicom and getting full 4G speeds. Come on in. The waters fine!
