I believe that TekSavvy charges $5 to change speed tiers.

If only $5 then that is acceptable. I thought TSI's "Move Fee" was also relating to speed tier change.

Can Marc confirm this?

Move from say an apartment to say a house in another neighborhood, and get your service transfered to the new address, thats the "move fee".

The $5 charge to move UP a speed/cap tier is a different matter.

TSI should not have made the new offer already available inside the TSI Portal. When I saw the topic saying new plans are LIVE, I went to the portal and made a request for a service change. Well, I've got an email saying I was denied as there is no such plan. I should have read the topic and not only the title.. Doh! Can't wait for upgrading to 60mbits.

"automatically get converted"

A la mise en place des nouveaux prix, tout le monde passe au nouveaux prix.

Thanks Marc,

However that might be too late. With price hikes, it's tempting just to go back to Videotron with their current $10 flat fee for unlimited instead of waiting to see what Teksavvy can come up with...

So for 30mbits, it's $57 for Teksavvy 300gigs, $66 Distributel unlimited, $76 videotron unlimited, $86 Teksavvy unlimited

I agree! why stay with teksavy if there going to be 20$ more expensive then their competition for the same service? I find a price hike of 15$ a little much to swallow since it seems other ISP's can keep pricing at a reasonable level. well what passes as reasonable in Canada that is.

Its quite the bullsh*t if you ask me. really disappointed in Teksavy atm

Anyone

Well...

I too am impatient to know that the new prices/packages will be BUT bandwidth cable prices for ISP went UP. When I think about it, I don't see how this new situation could bring that many good things for us.

I'm just waiting and hope for the best. Hopefully, TSI can come up with packages that are competitive, better than Videotron and in the same ballpark as the other ISP.

Yes,

Rates for Videotron went up roughly 10%.. as a result Teksavvy went up 38%...

That's what's bothering my wallet right now

Yes,

Thought of it too but would have done anything to get rid of Bhell, so I do qualify for $10. Not to say that everybody would, just that in my case I could and it's very tempting to go given the announcement... and nearly complete silence afterwards.

I guess in a nutshell, I would need to know if the 2-8 window is really still in the plans, and how would work the transition.

Might as well include the lowest priced TPIA in each category:

10Mbps unlimited
------------------------
38$ BravoTelecom (without additional services)
50$ TekSavvy without any Videotron services.
58$ Videotron and "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"
88$ Videotron without "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"

20Mbps unlimited
------------------------
50$ BravoTelecom (without additional services)
66$ Videotron and "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"
72$ TekSavvy without any Videotron services.
96$ Videotron without "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"

30Mbps unlimited
------------------------
60$ Acanac (without additional services)
77$ Videotron and "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"
85$ TekSavvy without any Videotron services.
97$ Videotron without "TV+Phone" or "TV+Cellular"

Source: »goo.gl/GyaZK and Acanac.ca (updated pricing not reflected)

Full disclosure: My transfer from Videotron after being a cable Internet subscriber for 8 years to Acanac is scheduled to go through on March 26th. I'll update my signature once it goes through and post a review of the process.

Someone told me BravoTelecom is not giving full speed at peak hour on a 10Mbps connection. Can someone using them can tell.

Can't find any comment about "BravoTelecom". That doesn't sound good.

Acanac's unlimited service is not a direct equivalent to TekSavvy's. Acanac's will throttle speeds down to 50% during peak hours, TekSavvy's will not.

They are not throttling right now ... anyway 19$ cheaper for only 3-4 of MAYBE 15Mbits ... I don't care, the price increases is too big for me ... maybe +10$ .... but not 20!

That really sad because I convert many people to TSI for past year.

Im out

Exactly, "right now", just wait til the dust settles in September-November 2013 when ALL of the TPIA providers have finished switching over to the Aggregated model . . . Then, come back kicking and screaming when you discover all of a sudden you're being throttled on Acanac. (Do try not to pull your hair out.)

Of course you're most welcome to disregard this post as a perceived case of FUD (Fear, uncertainty and doubt), I'm not here to troll you. Just to cry "Wolf" this once.

well this is a bummer, 5$ extra for the basic plan, might switch to the 75GB then, it would have been nice to at least have 100GB (never went over 100GB)...

For those monitoring this thread only...

Lastly, Vidéotron, I was hoping to have new rates up today but it will have to go to next week. I will post the rates here later today regardless though. We've tweaked some of the offerings down or increased usage in some instances.
