 | Time warner - use own modem? I rented a modem from time warner for $5 a month and dont want to pay that fee anymore so I recently bought a used modem from a friend. I have only one coaxial cable downstairs thats hooked up to cable, so I'm just wondering if I put a splitter on the end of the coaxial cable, if it will send the signal to both the tv and modem. Or are they separate signals? |

| You can split the signal as long as it isn't already too weak. All of the signals are carried on the same wire. Then all you need to do is call up TWC to activate the modem. If it isn't in their supported customer owned modem list, they might not activate it for you, so keep that in mind.
You can post your signals here when you are done (found by going to the modem's page at »192.168.100.1) and someone will tell you if they are acceptable. |

Perhaps a dumb question: I clicked on the URL you posted and got some of my Ubee modem info. However, it also asked for a login. Will that login provide more info? What should I use for the Username and Password? Thanks. |

| Depends on the modem. For Ubee modems, try using the following: Username: user Password: user --or-- Username: Last 8 of your modem's MAC address with uppercase letters (numbers 0-9 and letters A-F, no colons, dots, or other punctuation) Password: c0nf1gur3m3
Some modems have no passwords at all to access this info, and some modems have passwords that have been changed by the cable provider. |
