Re: CRTC Decision

Their new pricing is for aggregated POI... Check it out. I also posted in Canada Broadband.

And realistically, no one is gonna transfer 300GB during peak hours. If they do... Well please leave the house more lol.

Yes, noticed that and replied a couple posts up.

As for the "no one uses 300GB", that's sort of my point I guess - rather than over-promise and have to change prices when people do actually use it on lower tiers, we're trying to get packages that are stable and sustainable. Very few people will be impacted with our changes, for those that need more there are higher end packages.

Realistically, very very easy to do. Maybe not for a single person living by themselves, but consider a family of four or room mates who live together. One could be watching NHL Gamecenter Live, another MLBTV (once baseball season starts) another Netflix (SuperHD), and you can see where it would be very easy to hit 10 GB per day during on-peak.

They are also probably better suited for 45Mbps instead of 25Mbps.

Whats the cost to move up a package?
I'm actually mulling this over.

I don't think there's any cost right now other than the newer monthly package pricing.

Re: CRTC Decision

Are the start.ca UBB quotas ("usage") just for downstream usage, or for downstream plus upstream?

Thanks.

Teksavvy is charging $5 to change. Apparently it's in the tariffs... I guess Start is absorbing the costs?

Is it possible to offer some additional usage blocks to customers rather than having to pay $0.50/GB?

Will existing people be grandfathered on whatever they have currently? Assuming not much is going to change in Red land, but mainly the unlimited overnight..

I'd assume that users would be grandfathered in.

Too bad dry loop fees add some cost on top of those prices.

Shortly after they finish putting up the wire mesh. (Think Blues Brothers, and that one crazy stage on which they had to play.)

His name isn't Angelo.

And as long as we have the choice of remaining Grandpa'd on a Feb 2013 rate plan »Start Communications - 2013 Feb Cogeco-Land Packages , I'll be OK.

Oh I heard about the decision, however since I'm not in a Cogeco area and I can get the 50/10 tier on DSL I've got enough options between Rogers and Bell that I'll be good with all of the new plans because I have options.

So, in other words, the Cogeco plans are so unbelievably awful that the intensely disgusting rates in the Bell and Rogers part of the ruling look good by comparison.

I intended my previous post to be humourous, but now, as someone stuck in Cogeco land with Bell service speed topping out at around 5Mbps, this makes me really sad.

So I called your sales line last night to see about this pricing change.
I'm currently with TekSavvy and happy however I noticed they posted potential new prices the other day and it's a little scary.
Your sales agent last night advised that if i signed up for the 60/2 line @ $79.99 and the prices changed I would be grandfathered over at my current price until i chose to switch packages.
Is this true? It would effectively be the deciding factor in switching or not.

Thanks.
