| There are lies, damned lies, and statistics....
My wife has had ST (TMO) (prepaid no less) for 4 months and she hasn't dropped a single call, and data speeds are from 4-9 Mbps, and $46 all in. Her corporate discount would make the same plan $80 on T with a contract. Most people I know are on the TMO $30 plan, and they love it.
When I had AT&T, I had to stand out in my backyard to even make a call. Now I would like to find a person in Boston or New York Metro that can talk more than ten minutes without a drop on AT&T.
Even today I can tell which phone my reps are calling on. If it drops it's AT&T. Dropping on Verizon or TMO almost never happens. Sprint, it you can get a signal they are good w/ voice. Data is a nightmare. Nobody in corporate has Sprint anyways in my co, it's mostly VZW or T in the NEA and the ones on T want Verizon.
I'm more interested in why AT&T has cut ties w/ StraightTalk and now you can only get a TMO SIM. I hear they are ratcheting up their own MVNO ala Virgin/Boost, which means it will be more than $45..Knowing the orange monster probably $60-$65. |

As someone that was a VZW customer for seven years and now has been using the T-Mobile $30 plan for the last month, I can say that when it works, it's good. However, I miss my VZW coverage and reliability. I've never had AT&T service on my personal account, but my previous AT&T service through work was similar to what I'm experiencing with T-Mobile now. I realize my perception is relative, but this is my experience in the DC metro. |
