Re: [DSL] NEW RATES - Bell Ontario & Promo

Distributel..15/1 unlimited is 47.95 compared to teksavvy promos 49.99 for unlimited. Dry loop install fees are waived and if you sign up now the monthly fee of 6 dollars is waived. How is tek's a better deal? are you paying the premium for teksavvy's customer service?

Well that's pretty impressive. Kudos to TSI for being extra generous to their existing client base!

Band A is for downtown Toronto/Montreal. Most people are on Band B or higher.

Ah, not so much for everyone. We are leaving an area where we have DSL and going to one where there is nothing but Cogeco. Major $$ increase for us.

That makes teksavvy's prices for 15/1 and lower way more expensive thatn distributel? I do not understand how that is generous? Am i missing something?

Well I don't know if distributel has updated their prices yet. They look the same as they we're before. So maybe they'll be changing them soon.

Many people have cancelled POTS and use cell phone only and/or VoIP. Cable doesn't have dry internet fees either, Rogers got rid of them more than 10 years ago. I am still with Bell because they waive dryloop fees for the own customers. Velcom 7000/1000 is on my radar now because they offer better upload for less than Start cable 6000/256 (unless this changes, they haven't posted their new rates yet).

Please keep the promo rates for a while, I would love to switch from cable but unfortunately don't have access to these speeds yet

WRONG. The most recent decision by the CRTC basically forced TPIAs to start focusing on DSL again because it is cheaper (so bigger profit margins), despite the age of the technology...TSI was trying to move away from DSL (and has many more cable subscribers) but things have now changed thanks to the CRTC....

Now, innovation on the cable front will slowdown and we all suffer....Obviously the CRTC has no idea what they've done because they don't understand the technology....

In the mean time, enjoy the cheap DSL I guess, but it comes at a price...

Are these rates going to be the same for business now or do you have new numbers for business coming soon?

Marc,

When can i return the Cellpipe and get the rental fee waived?

I've been using my own Bell Sagemcom 2864 modem with TSI 25/7

I'm still working on modem related issue.. that's a good question though that I'm also wondering about.

Have no idea what you are talking about. People are interested in paying less. They don't care about that crap. It is a win for consumer pricing for dsl which was and still is relevant tech in this country.

These rates aren't live yet.. he's just putting it here to show what it will probably look like when he does release them.

anyone thinking they can get these at this very moment is naive and just plan dumb.

Plain*, no need to go calling people dumb for asking questions. We're on forums to ask questions and find out information, no?

Very much interested on what the modem situation will be like. 25/10 for approx $50/month with the promo rate and dry loop fee is sounding great to me. Modem rental fees can potentially ruin this deal.

Any ETA on when you'll find out what's going on with that?

hmm, why are the 15/1 rates going up? (i'm referring to the regular rates, not the promo)

I thought costs for Bell went down, and now rates are going up? weird...

2x 50/10 at the promo rate... depending on how much it is. that'd probably be near the same price as what i had a single 25/7 for previously!

Why are 10/1 and 15/1 priced higher after the promotion? Thought bells rate went down like 50 something %?

@Kragop If you have unlimited internet with Tek Talk than you should call and get it waived, premium doesn't get it waived *says on the new thread marc opened about tek talk

I am eagerly awaiting the 50/10 package price and the cost of the VDSL modem.

I am on 28/1mb right now. I currently have a POTS in my basement from an older Bell installation.

Possible to get that installation fee waived if we do it ourselves?

If the TSI website only says I can get 6, am I stuck on that or is FTTN a possibility?

Marc, will the speed change fee be waived for those still on 640 and 2 mbps ?

If you purchase a 75gb or 300gb subscription, whatever you download/upload from 2am to 8am will not count against your cap.

If you purchase the unlimited package, you can ignore the 2am to 8am thing as it only applies to the above.

No, no throttling.

"unlimited 2AM to 8AM" means that if you are on a GB based package (300GB limit, for example) any usage between 2AM and 8AM won't count towards your caps.

It doesn't apply if you are on unlimited as you are unlimited.

Keep calm, carry on.
