"I approve of invasive DRM. I approve of always online connection requirements, even to play single-player. I approve of not having access to the game I paid for after release. I approve of how EA treats its customers. Here's my money, please continue to do ALL OF THIS. " |

SteimesI make internetsPremium join:2002-01-08 Belle Vernon, PA kudos:1 | On several occasions the game would reset, connections would time out, would not be able to log in consistency for the first few weeks.. All while I wanted to play single player.
When you only have a handful of hours a week to play a game you looked forward to for years....and you can't..... that burns. -- Making procrastination an art form since Pluto was still a planet. |

danawhitakerSpace...The Final FrontierPremium join:2002-03-02 Urbandale, IA | reply to drew Diablo 3 is still burning me when I play. If my internet connection has even a minor hiccup, the game disconnects me. I lose my 5 stacks of nephalem valor, and the map that I was clearing is completely reset, so I end up losing progress and having to fight a bunch of stuff to get back to where I was. Sometimes, I log back in and find myself dead, too, which results in a repair bill. That's almost a year past launch. And just the other day, because *WoW* was screwed up and overloaded Battle.net on its patch day, Diablo 3 went down the toilet as well and was inaccessible a good portion of the afternoon. What's that about no prolonged problems a year past launch?
I loved SimCity games back in the day, but sadly, I will not be touching this one. Diablo 3 I got for free as part of my one year commitment to WoW, so at least I didn't end up spending money directly on it. Otherwise I can't say whether I would have bought it or not. |

drewAutomaticPremium join:2002-07-10 Port Orchard, WA kudos:6 | reply to Steimes I played at launch and for weeks following... none of those issues as described. I also have limited playtime, but am on the west coast. I'm not sure if that matters or not.
As for battle.net being down... that's going to happen with any single sign-on authorization & authentication platform be it of the blizzard variety or of the EA (origin) variety or of ________ variety. Not a unique issue to blizzard and they actually do it pretty well. -- flickr | 'Cause I've been waiting, all my life just waiting For you to shine, shine your light on me |

I agree it is not a unique issue for Blizzard, as any always on DRM is going to be a problem. Hence, if Blizzard couldn't get it right for a game launch, EA had no hope. -- Making procrastination an art form since Pluto was still a planet. |

People, by and large, do not take the time to say "yep! all good here!" over and over and over again on forums, blogs & other internet communication areas. If anything, it's an off-hand comment. At best, it's a thread that ends up getting trashed by the incredibly vocal minority.
The flipside is that when someone feels slighted, they are much more likely to share their displeasure, often multiple times.
