[optical] DVD burner problem or the media

I have a 100pk of DataRight Professional 16x DVD-R MBI 01RG40
Here is my burner »www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-p···SBS-spec
The problem i am having is none of the disks would burn correctly or not at all. Based on reviews on DataRight Professional 16x DVD-R it has 4.5 star rating. Does it means there is a problem with my drive?

What speeds are you trying to write at? Have you dropped speeds to see if they'll write properly?

Try all available speeds down to 2x or 2.4x.

You need some more burners and different DVDs to figure out if it's a drive or a media issue.

2nd class media.

Try a different brand/type of disc. For SL DVD, use Verbatim or Taio Yuden, for DL DVD, use Verbatim.

Everything else is trial and error to see what works with your hardware.

This is my plan to get a known or a good brand. I still do not understand the reviews »www.tigerdirect.com/applications···ewsBlock %98 of them are positive. Looks like i am %2 of those people with a bad experience.

I usually test with DVDInfoPro.

In any case, errors are typically a sign of media issues.

You can try burning at a slower speed, but slow speeds can sometimes cause issues as well.

I would start with a quality media. Then test. Once you know you can burn error free with a quality media, then you can experiment with other media to see what works with your hardware.

All media is different and some work with some drive but not with others.
Also you can get a bad batch of disks even if they are rated good. I got some bad batches and i took them back as soon as i could not burn a good disk after ten trys. I am now ripping my DVD's to files and found that one brand was very poor and i have many of those disks not read anymore and there are only a few years old. The Dye coating on the disk was very thin and you could almost see through them.

Any ways you can read up on your media and drive at this site
