[TWC] WMC not picking up clearqam

rockmeister join:2013-03-06 Allen, TX	[TWC] WMC not picking up clearqam Setup ===== Windows 8 HTPC Hauppauge HVR 1600 "Basic" Time Warner Cable service at Zip: 75013 Allen, TX Connection: 3-way splitter (one going directly to the TV, one to the Analog and one to the digital input on the Hauppauge card) VIZIO E601i-A3 TV The setup was all working fine until I did a rescan around Feb 16th. All the analog channels are fine but clearqam channels, there were only 9 and and they were not useful channels. BTW, WinTV 7.x software that comes with the Hauppauge card was able to pickup all the clearqam channels without problem. My Vizio TV was also picking all the clearqam channels I saw the posting on this forum about some analog channels being removed (like WGN going away etc.) and waited till yesterday and did a re-scan. Now, only one clearqam showed up on the WMC scan. All my googling doesn't tell me why WMC is failing to scan. THe only possible explanation that was given was about missing PSIP by the provider (in this case TWC). In any case, all of them point to the link on "how to add missing channels". Sigh. Yesterday I looked at the silicondust channel list (»www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/li···_8427591) and I added KDFWDT and KXASDT. While the channels tuned fine, the guide data was missing. Today I downloaded the guide tool (»1geek1tool.com/guidetool), although it warns that it is not certified for windows 8, it does work. Now I access the silicondust website and see that TWC digital lineup is completely gone :-( Now I do not have the information to add the channels manually either. Help in the order of preference! (1) Show me the trick that would enable WMC to scan all the clearqam channels automatically (and matching with the correct guide information) (2) How to go about adding the missing channels in a manual or semi-automated way. TWC has been moving a lot of their channels to SDV, I live in San Antonio and have seen that happen with several channels. This means you will need to get a device which TWC calls a "Tuning Adapter". This only works with the HDHomerun that supports a cablecard because the tuning adapter uses a USB port. I know it is probably what you don't want to hear but it the way cable companies are going these days in the name of saving bandwidth on their coax.

Also local channels are not being moved to SDV anywhere in the US. The channels here in North Texas had some slight adjustments as TWC moved several local HD and digital subchannels to new frequencies to make room for more DOCSIS channels in the near future. The new manual tune assignments for the channels that moved are: 2.1 Discovery Channel HD (NEW) 18.1 KTVT HD 18.3 KTXA HD 25.1 KERA HD 25.2 WFAA HD 25.3 WFAA 2 25.4 WFAA 3 25.5 KERA World

Smart people on forums have claimed both ways that it is gone digital but not SDV. Of course others have claimed they know it is SDV in many areas. However, no one has been able to show definitive proof that it is one way or the other than just taking them by their word. Now I have talked of the Office of the President for my city for TWC and ask about if I would specifically need a Tuning Adapter if i wanted to use a Tivo, which by the way it used just for SDV, and they said that I would. They said that i would be able to get many channels without it but that some of their channels are SDV now. So to me that seems like a pretty good indication that SDV is actually in use now. However, I still know I could be wrong but seems like good evidence to me that in reality SDV is in use now motorola870. Now if you have good evidence or reason to believe that SDV is not in use now I would love to hear it but also i have see from people is their word against someone else's.

Yes SDV is in use but all of the changes that have been made this year with channels going from analog and digital to digital only are not SDV as a matter of fact TWC has moved some of the HD channels off of SDV if they are in the limited basic tier as TWC moved Discovery Channel off of SDV here in North Texas.
