I've seen those "permanent one" They are el cheapo version stuck in a 5 gallon bucket filled with concrete. Every winter before the ground freezes I stick a fiberglass stick with reflector 5 feet up street from my mailbox to delineate the curb and thankfully the plow drivers keep a good distance from it.

What a great idea. Hopefully it's a warning and not a target though. I think I'll talk to my wife about it for next year.
