Is there a default DNS server setting in the 7550 modem? I'm done with Frontier's servers! Plus I'm using a new very unfamiliar Fedora OS after thirty years 'dozing. I've been on Fedora about a hundred hours now, a real newbie.
Please navigate me to the page if there is. All my documentation is in the old HDD now gone. -- Washington Island, Wisconsin across Death's Door Passage
Here is a link that Smith posted for the BSHI modem (7550) installation. There is probably some information in it that will help you. If will pull one of my 7550 tomorrow to see where you can set the DNS servers.
The 7550 firmware is similar to the 7500. In the 7500 the DNS servers can be setup in the Broadband Connection > VC1 Configuration.

OK on the 7550 here is the sequence My Connected Homed Network Connection Broadband (DSL) Action Edit Advanced DSL Configuration On the first enabled connection click on Edit This should take you to the VC1 Configuration, you should be able to add the DNS servers on this page.
I do wish that we had a versatile users manual for the 7550 with which users like me could get into trouble and then out of trouble and back on line. -- Washington Island, Wisconsin across Death's Door Passage

The closest thing available for a user manual is the BSHI that Smith post in the FAQ for the Frontier Communication forum. Some things are very similar to the 7500 and that manual is available from the Verizon web site. I have had some problems with the 7550 that I was not able to resolve while testing them. I normally use the 7500/7550 in bridge mode so I at this point really have no reason to use them for anything other than a modem.
