DogT join:2009-11-12 Hume, VA | Gen 4 new to me and opinion My HN7000 died in the middle of Feb, so I called Hughes and they gave me a 5 day period to get it fixed. This is with paying the insurance. I called the next day to upgrade to G4 and that's all fine, installer called the next day, so only 2 days without service. Had to move antenna, another $125. Same dish, different mount, new modem, new TX/RX.
So, it sure downloads fast when needed, but the latency is killing me worse than the 7000. I used to get less than 3S web response, now usually more than 3. Speed is fast, however, typically downloads of 5-9MB. Trouble is sometimes it takes long times for the pages even to start to load up. I'd say about 70% of the time it's really fast loading, like before, but the rest of the time, I have to wait minutes or more. Only thing that seems to rectify it is restarting the computer. I've tried all the old tricks from the HN service of cleaning the old web info, restarting the modem, etc. Seems all that it needs it time, and that's with me sitting here waiting for a page to start loading. Pings I measure above 800, usually on the high end. The 7000 used to be above 1S sometimes, but web response below 3S.
I'm thinking I should have gone with the Home Fusion. I suppose I'll have to eat the $200 after I get the $100 rebate and the installation, but if I can get sub 100 pings and same download speed, I'm not worried about quantity, only browsing and email.
What't the BBB procedure to get out of HN?
Seems they've started G4 before they can handle it. |

I'm betting you are classified as "uprade" as you did not have a 45 day break in service.
I think the ETF is around $600.
As far as the BBB, well you can try but how do you think a company with the integrity of Hughes gets a BBB A+ rating ?
the answer is $$$$$$$ Good Luck |
