[Speed] Speed Increase - South Florida

Since the other thread about Comcast's recent speed increases is locked and gone I thought I would create one for South Florida (West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and the surrounding cities). According to DSLR.net's Insider (link below) the update for us (South Florida) won't be until March 21st for Extreme & Blast users but perhaps later in April or May for "normal" Performance users. But you never know and maybe some will get it sooner (or hopefully not later anyway). There is also a new 300 Mbps tier which is mainly aimed at businesses, and is very expensive to boot, but is still very awesome!

Also with these updates is the fact that PowerBoost will be coming to an end. Even so many will miss that short burst of future speed happiness that we have all become accustomed too. But speeds are becoming so fast now that it makes PowerBoost almost irrelevant. So reboot your modems and routers and check to see if you have it (so I don't have to, lol)! And share your current speeds and plan info!

Speed Tier Changes:

Performance: 16(12)/2 Mbps to 25/4 Mbps
Blast/Ultra: 25/4 Mbps to 50/10 Mbps
Extreme: 50/10 Mbps to 105/20 Mbps

Note: Most users who don't know what tier they are on are usually on Performance, which is basically the standard unless you pay more. Also it's been said that Performance tier users won't see the boost until April or May. Current Extreme 105/20 Mbps tier users will have their price lowered to the Extreme 50/10 Mbps price point.

I just want to note that the Performance upgrade is coming later.. around April and May. So there will be no speed increase for us Performance users, yet.

Here's what ShaperProbe is picking up for me still (No upgrade yet, on Blast)

Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 6426 Kbps.
Downstream: 36041 Kbps.

The measurement will take upto 2.5 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: Burst size: 9775-9852 KB;
Shaping rate: 4256 Kbps.

Downstream: Burst size: 19329-19798 KB;
Shaping rate: 26562 Kbps.

Yeah even on the Comcast site for my area the speeds have already been upgraded so I guess new users are already seeing them?

Hey Fifth, can you blow up that picture? I want to see it but it's too small :0

@comcast.net

The Comcast site is messed up, if you just go to it most will see the new speeds/prices and it will show your zip or one close but be wrong. If you enter address it will show the current ones.

If you leave site after doing that and go back, home page will show your zip and new prices, but again, enter address and back to old.

It's just a marketing things...

Please do not start multiple threads about these speed upgrades. They can be reported as they actually occur in this stickied topic ---> »Report recent Extreme, Blast or Performance upgrades here
