| Great news. I just got a new Roku 2 XS last week because my 1st gen roku stopped working. When I hooked the new one up I was disapointed to see the TW App still wasnt out but glad to see it is out now. Cant wait to play with it.
I am disappointed that a NEW Roku device is also out since I just bought a new one last week. it appears it is just a rebadged roku2 XS so I dont feel so bad. Would be cool to have that headphone set up....oh well. -- Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts |

| reply to btB Wow, not a bad app / channel at all. I'm not sure why the channels arent streaming in HD though. Doesnt appear to be a way within the app itself to force the stream to HD either. -- Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts |

 | reply to swintec We will probably be able to buy just a new remote with private listening for the Roku 2 soon. The Roku 2 is getting the new Roku 3 interface in May. |
|
 | The new Roku uses WiFi Direct for the remote and not Bluetooth like the previous models. |

 | reply to btB Does the Roku TWC app have local channels and Fox Sports channels, or is it the same lineup as the iOS offerings? |

 | reply to DEXTUX said by DEXTUX :Does the Roku TWC app have local channels and Fox Sports channels, or is it the same lineup as the iOS offerings? Should be the same as the smartphone apps. If Time Warner streams your local channels and your regional sports networks in your market via the app on a phone or tablet, you should be able to stream it via the Roku as well. -- Dale Jr, Riding Daddys Coattails Since February 18, 2001!

| reply to btB I do notice that the Roku version of TW TV is about 30 seconds or so behind that of the PC version for some reason. -- Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts |

 | reply to btB Beware! I have Roku XS and got TWC installed today..already had their internet. I was told I didn't need a cable box since I had a Roku. I thought well guess I'll save the roughly $10 cable box fee per month. Not so! TWC now says doesn't matter whether you have a Roku or not, you still pay the cable box fee. So what's the point of having the Roku for TWC? Doesn't save you any money and you might as well just keep your cable box that does more. I had a conversation with Roku and let them know how TWC is charging what I feel is an extra $10. I've had two conversations with TWC so far. I'm not done with them yet. So I saw this forum and wanted to give everyone a heads up about TWC and the Roku app |

| You only get the channels on the roku that you are subscribed too. Would the system allow them to add digital cable to your account without a box attached to the account (since you need it for digital cable)?
What channels do you get currently with just the roku? Essentially the basic cable channels? -- Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts |

hobgoblinSortof AgoblinPremium join:2001-11-25 Orchard Park, NY kudos:7 | reply to HDTV Guy The Roku does not replace a cable box. Firstly all the channels available with a box are not available on Roku. Secondly if you subscribe to the digital cable package you need a box. If you have another TV in an office or a bedroom a Roku can add some channels to that outlet instead of getting ANOTHER box.

 | Yeah you don't need a cable box but you will still pay for it. So why have the Roku? TWC doesn't state this anywhere in anything I've read. Roku acts like they aren't aware of it either. I got the impression you'd save $10 a month. Why pay for a box I don't have..so Roku becomes my cable box. Why pay TWC for the use of my Roku. They could state that the app costs $10 a month. At least that's honest. I compared my dish channels to TWC and TWC is $20 higher a month too. I had TWC turned of in less than 24 hours. |

Note: I'm paying monthly for my digital DVR service and I'm satisfied with everything. But surely the app I added to my Roku won't cost me extra! If not, then you misled us with your comment. |

No it does not cost anything. HDTV guy is under the mistaken impression that the ROKU can double as his only cable box.

UnbundledBut When ? ?Premium join:2010-09-13 Irving, TX | reply to btB So, I have a DTA box and subscribe to Basic and Standard.
I stream my ROKU by way of my Clear Hub Express Modem with Wi-Fi.
But, I was told I cannot accees my TWC Roku channel, unless I use a TWC device. It's complicated to me. becuase I though I had everything I needed--- A TWC box and account, and a Roku account.
The TWC FAQs don't make it clear enough EXACTLY what you need to do this. There are some assumptions that are not spelled out in their FAQs about the TWC Roku channel. -- A La Carte Cable Choice is the ONLY Choice I'm Interested in ! ! ! UnbundledBut When ? ?Premium join:2010-09-13 Irving, TX | Yes, I see that now. To get the TWC to work on ROKU, I have to get my internet, through Roku, by way of TWC. (I do get my internet for my computer through a modem, but that TWC provided modem is not a wi-fi modem....). -- A La Carte Cable Choice is the ONLY Choice I'm Interested in ! ! !
