In fact I have made up my mind. I think I will go against the grain and popular consensus and go with it hinged the same as the main door. I went to a friend's house for the first time yesterday and she has her storm door hung that way and I found that to be easier to get to the door lock. Also, I happen to have more space than she does and I assume it will be easier with my available space. With this there is always going to be pros and cons for both sides but I just chose the one with the one or two fewer cons.
I want to thank everyone for all their input and suggestions. I didn't expect to get as much feedback as I did but completely appreciate it all.
