Problems on reconnect VPN connection

I have a server machine with windows server 2008, with routing and remote access (VPN server). I have some VPN clients using windows XP, 7 VPN connections. Everything is working fine, except when some (not all of them) VPN client is disconnected, it canĀ“t be reconnected again. He/she must wait 5, 10, 30 minutes or 1 or more hours and then suddenly are connected again. We have Technicolor/Thompson TG582n routers at the ends, It's frustrating, while some clients connect and reconnect without problems, others have to let long time to get connected again. Thanks a lot

Is it possible to tell if the problem is happening at the router rather than the VPN server? Because that's the first thing I would try to confirm. Or else you could end up wasting a lot of time targeting the wrong culprit.

Second eibgrad's comments.

Any sort of log(s) on either the Windows end or the Thompson end that can help you figure out and correlate?
Is all other data passing EXCEPT the affected user(s) when this occurs?
Do the affected users have all other network connectivity functional when this happens?
