| [IL] Traffic Shaping? I caught this a few minutes ago on ShaperPro.

Can someone explain what I'm seeing here?
Thanks! |

 | The shaping rate is 5.88MB/sec which is close to the 50mbps plan max. The burst size 11021-11673KB is roughly 11.4MB/sec. I believe the higher bursts relates to the plans speed boost mediacom added a year or so ago. I could be wrong. |

 1 edit | The burst size is how much data on top of the shaped rate (~46 Mbps) was downloaded at the higher speed (~55 Mbps). You should have seen about 10 seconds worth of extra speed using throughput monitoring tools.
Edit: Here's a more extreme result to show what it looks like:
DiffProbe release. January 2012. Build 1008.
Shaper Detection Module.
Connected to server 203.5.76.153.
Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 22991 Kbps.
Downstream: 108420 Kbps.
The measurement will take upto 2.5 minutes. Please wait.
Checking for traffic shapers:
Upstream: Burst size: 9630-10180 KB;
Shaping rate: 7392 Kbps.
Downstream: Burst size: 18980-20576 KB;
Shaping rate: 28746 Kbps.

That resulted in about 5 seconds of extra upstream bandwidth and about 2 seconds of extra downstream bandwidth. -- KI6RIT |
