Video transcoding for a website help

I need to create a short video with excerpts from a few DVDs I have. I didn't have any problem creating the "master" edited video. I need to post the video on a website that ideally would also be mobile friendly.

I've tried quite a few codec combinations and settings. I found plenty that work for PCs running Linux and Windows but I couldn't find one that also works on Android, Blackberry or iOS.

Any ideas what formats, settings or utilities should I try? Any "magic" command line switches or codec options to be aware of?

Sorry, no. The link describes how to link to the video. I have the video already linked and it loads everywhere, but the format is not recognized on the mobiles. Tried to change the format or the encoding parameters but no joy. I think I'm missing some options in encoding. A command line for transcode that produces a format acceptable for mobiles would greatly help.

On the PCs everything is fine. It loads and it is played too.

Dear Black,

Two easy programmes, OpenShot, and Transmageddon have presets for android, apple, &c that work.

If I am in a hurry, I use transmageddon, because one tpyo in ffmpeg and nothing works.

Both are apt-gettable in the various deb based distros, and arch have packages for both.

Peace,
M

I only know HandBrake and have had success making mp4 files using the above presets for various devices in my circle. Maybe it has something for you. :)
