G.bond Comtrend 5600u bridge mode

Anyone have any luck getting the 5600u in bridge mode on a G.bond config? The tech sheet says it is supported.. and I have tried many configurations both from the GUI and the telnet command line with no luck.

It has been a couple months since I messed with it, but it seems like in one config I did get it to pull an IP, but it would not pass any Internet traffic..... that may have been when I was experimenting with what happens when only one of the lines was up though.. can't remember.

Sorry Blue, Must have overlooked this thread.

How to Bridge a Comtrend

1) Enter 192.168.254.254 into the Address Bar.

2)You will now be faced with the modem Login window,Enter
admin for both user name and password.

3)Now that your in the Modem's interface you now want to
select The advanced settings tab on the left pane.

4)In the advanced settings tab you now want to navigate
to the WAN Services tab.

5)Now you will be face with two Wan interfaces. If you look
to the right you will see that there is a option to remove.
Check both boxes and click remove. Now you are ready to
create your Wan service and enter the modem into bridge
mode.

6)Now click add under Wan services, you are now faced with a drop down box.Select one it doesn't matter which one you
select because you have to use both.So just select the first one.

7)click next, then you will be face with three options, click the one that says "bridging" then click next, then save and apply.

8)once again click add,and do the same for the second Wan interface. You will only have one option to select because you have already created your first Wan interface.

NOTE:
You must create the second interface or the bridge will not work and your internet will not work. You have to create one interface for ATM and the other for PTM.

9)After you have created your Bridged interfaces, select management and under management click reboot the modem from the interface.

Don't forget to put your UN/PW in your router.

Mods, this may be a good one for the Windstream FAQ page. I will confirm the steps on Sunday 3/17

Gave this a whirl on my NL-5600U .
My router (belkin with Tomato)was set to use PPPOE with the correct UN/PW (confirmed by tech support) but would not establish a connection.

the modem (when tested with a hardwired, manually dhcp'ed machine) was not showing any WAN ipv4 ip or default gateway.

Tech support was not sure what the issue could be, any ideas would be appreciated.

Here is the original link written by me with screen shots.

I would disable the manual DHCP setting and set it to auto, just to rule out your manual settings.

Wow... I haven't been checking the forum as much as I used to , and I missed your original post. Good game!

I didn't get to try this today, perhaps tomorrow night.

It actually does work great. Xanders instruction have become S.O.P. for bridging Comtrends. Slight changes and it will work with all versions of Comtrend including VDSL.

I just performed these steps and it works great! The thing I was missing before was creating the 2nd bridge interface. I was trying to get it to work with only one.

Thanks Aaron and Xander
