 | [DVR] Tivo Preview cant play recorded shows So last night I was up really late (after 2am) and went to play a recorded show from my preview unit thats connected via moca bridge and it was not able to play ANY recorded shows. I could see the shows but when I pressed play it just wouldn't play. What was even weirder was I was able to initiate a recording of a show I was watching but could not go back and play it. I checked it out again this morning and it was fine. Has anyone ever run into that issue ? Was there a software update last night or something ? |
|
 | This has only happened to me once, although I have only had the Preview for a week. I rebooted the Preview and it worked immediately after the reboot. It has not happened since. |

 | reply to Dawk2013 OK this is becoming a real problem now. This happened a total of 4 times today on both of my previews. I had to reboot them both, which does fix it but its temporary. They are working fine now but this seems to be a bug. Can someone from RCN assist ? |

Hard reboot seems to temporarily fix the problem, until you need to reboot again. |

|
 | reply to Dawk2013 I had a problem like this once, and the solution turned out to be re-booting the Q, not the Preview. |
|
 | interesting. I have not tried to reboot the Q as rebooting the previews fixes the issues. Although temporarily. Maybe RCNMAN or one of the engineers from RCN has a documented solution. |

|
 | OK Rcnman. I sent you my TSN's via instant message. For the record, I rebooted the Q and the problem still persists. |

Can you fire off a couple tivo connections on each device.. I'm going to have to get TiVo involved on this.. Also can you PM me exactly what happens when you push the record button from a preview.. Do you get a error, etc...

Thanks Hi Jason. Even after eliminating all of the ghost DVR's on the Q and rebooting the Q, the preview unit had the exact same issue this evening. I'm hoping someone else has this issue so we can further troubleshoot. Does anyone else have a Tivo whole home package with a DVR expander ? |
|
 | Yes, I have a DVR expander on the Q and a preview wired via MoCA. I only had this problem one time, still have not had it happen again. This only happened when I was messing with IP assignments on my router. What's your network look like? |

This only happened when I was messing with IP assignments on my router. What's your network look like? I have a Q and 2 previews wired via moca. Combination of computers and devices, some wired some not. All use DHCP to obtain their IP addresses. I've been running it this way for years without issue. The internet does drop out here and there, which usually requires a restart of the modem and router. That is unrelated to the Preview issue though as the internet is always running fine when the preview elects to stop being able to play shows from the Q, which at this point is almost a daily occurrence. |

 | reply to Dawk2013 Everything was going well after the equipment swap (thanks Jason) until this past weekend. Both of my preview units required a reboot because they could not play any saved shows. Was anyone able to figure out what the issue may be being you have some affected hardware to look at ? I don't want to swap my equipment again if I don't have to. Maybe static IP addresses would help ? |
