Former Newark Airport TSA screener says the job does littleWhat a shocker! quote: A LOT of what we do is make-believe. ... Most TSA screeners know their job is a complete joke. Their goal is to use this as a stepping stone to another government agency.

The TSA employee wrote simply about the ineffectiveness of the procedures and the incompetence of some of its employees. There is absolutely nothing in the article to indicate in any way that this is some sinister plot. But, nevertheless, you're incapable of seeing that a thing is what it looks like, and you have to trot out your paranoia again, veering off-subject. |

He is one disgruntled, FORMER TSA employee. Placing any credence in his comments would be equivalent to thinking IE 6 is still a good browser. Negative stuff, no matter how tiny, is what the media reports simply to gain readers. |

Agreed; the tone is plausible, and in fact not particularly different to some opinions expressed in this forum (usually involving the words 'security theatre', I think). |

LOL The edges of what we accept have to be influenced by the possibilities. e.g., I may not accept that the British royal family are really lizards from Mars but it does make the possibility of lizards being from Mars more plausible to me. |

After all, we pay him to think, right? Maybe he's not paid to think. That's not the same as being incapable of it. This wasn't exactly news to most people. It IS more theatre than security, and has been for a long time. If we in North America took airport security at all seriously it would look like the way the Israelis do it. Prior to 9/11 the FAA Red Team had about a 90% success rate in breaching airport security. I doubt it has got any better. |
