2 edits | Interesting... Thanks for that insight. Again maybe its a local/state thing playing a role too. From what I gather some places have much more liberal statutes (for example some counties in Maryland as noted in Comcast's Customer Agreement document).
Experience from Sandy would seem to suggest that at least in some situations credits are offered for "freak mother nature storms": »www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-0···ndy.html
So let me ask you a question mostly out of pure curiosity. If service is down/degraded due to let's say external RF interference from somewhere and poorly maintained outside plant allowing that ingress (of course never admitted to) , would that be a covered event in your book?

anyway you pay say $60 for hsi. so $2 a day, is $8 really that big of deal?
why should comcst credit everyones ccount when not EVERYONE was affected for the same amount of time, and again THEY COULDN'T FIX IT EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO!!!! | reply to Robotics If its weather related, you probably have no recourse. If the outage was the fault of Comcast (such as equipment failure, planned outages/maintenance, etc).
With the airlines, you have certain rights regarding delayed or cancelled flights EXCEPT when it is weather related and all bets are off. |

 | reply to Robotics I would imagine (hope, anyway) that "corp" will tell you to stuff it. |

| reply to IowaCowboy You are correct. If I don't get a credit it isn't going to kill me.
But I am also confident after a call tomorrow, that I will get one. I probably should have worded the thread a little different. Comcast isn't that greedy, and they do issue credits...even when it isn't their fault. Just got to get the right department, in this case. -- Long you live and high you fly, and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry, and all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be. |

If Comcast is going to raise rates every couple of months and nickel and dime customers for every little thing then asking for every penny when you're not getting service seems fitting. |

Re: [Rant] Comcast Is NOT Greedy As Hell Happy to say Comcast gave me credit on both my accounts with no questions/hassle. The lady I spoke to was very friendly, and fully understood the situation, being if you don't have the service, you shouldn't be getting billed for it. -- Long you live and high you fly, and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry, and all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be. |

why should comcst credit everyones ccount when not EVERYONE was affected for the same amount of time, and again THEY COULDN'T FIX IT EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO!!!! For the SAME reason that when my power is out, I don't pay for power that is not there. When the water main breaks and I have no water, I do NOT pay for water I could not use. Should be no different with Comcast when a customer calls in and requests a credit on a per day basis. |

It was an Act of God, which Comcast isn't responsible for. Their service would have been working just fine for you if it hadn't been for Mother Nature. So you can honestly say that is an "Act of God" occcurred and took out your comcast for a month or more, you would be perfectly fine paying them the entire time for service they cannot provide? Somehow I doubt it. |

I didn't call and ask for a 1 day kickback because I knew they were not responsible. Their service was available had it not been for Mr Imaginary Cloud Person and his antics. A month would mean a total destruction of the outside plant (hurricane, tornado). Their service wouldn't be available to me because of their equipment failure. |

Re: [Rant] Comcast Is NOT Greedy As Hell File complaint here »www.vdacs.virginia.gov/
They will contact them, serve them with a letter that says they have 60 days to remedy this or they mediate a trial, at that point comcast will call you asking what they can do to make it go away. You tell them 4 days credit and it will be done. Take about a month before comcast calls you, I suspect. Least that's the way it worked with sprint and their you will pay etf's for terminating a contract even though you cannot use the phones where you live and drive and work. They refused to let us out without an etf when they coudl not provide service, no matter what th contract says they cannot not provide service and get away with charging, basic laws of this country. So we sent in a complaint, called one month letter begging to let me out without etf, all done, no muss no fuss, and no 1 hour hold times either. Make them do the work, why should you waste your time calling them over and over again. same witha credit card that got my SS# wrong they would not activate teh card becasue it did not match but they sent me a bill for activating it. Called, they argued, I filed, 1 month letter all gone got a letter saying my account had been terminated which they would not do over the phone, the fee had been removed, which was never supposed to exist to start with. I would not bother continuing to call a comapny who can't treat you like a customer, let them deal with the government, that's why you pay taxes. |

| reply to Robotics If we had true metered billing, you wouldn't be charged on the days you don't have service. Just like I'm not charged for electricity when the power is out, but I am charged for the tiny bit of power my appliances use when I'm on vacation. If the power is out, but Comcast is still providing service, are they obligated to credit you even though they were providing service? |

Seeley join:2009-01-31 Eatontown, NJ 1 edit | reply to Robotics Comcast is the most HATED company in the world. There is no company that has the lowest and greediest business ethics Comcast possesses. NONE. They anger me every other day. Since 1988, Storer and Comcast has increased my bill 1000% for Preferred/Expanded TV. ONE-THOUSAND PERCENT. And to this day, I'm STILL getting 4:3 LOW DEF TV. I REFUSE to pay any extra money for a digital box to get Hi Def and 16:9 even thought I have a HDTV.
COMCAST ARE THIEVES!! They make my blood boil. I'm really surprised there hasn't been any damage/vandalism to their buildings or trucks by livid and angered customers.
When and if I move, the location of my new home will be first determined by the absence of Comcast in the area. |
