[CenturyTel] My CenturyLink Stats
Are these stats good for a 3 down / 512 up connection living 3 houses away from the exchange?

Your SNR is good, so you should have a stable connection. Your attenuation rates seem very high for being so close to the exchange. Connect the modem to the test jack at the NID and compare. If there is a significant difference, you need to check your inside wiring and filters. |

Thankz for the reply, Imma do what you said and imma upload stats coming from the test jack. |

Your attenuation did not change, so your house wiring should be good. The attenuation still seems high for your distance. However, it could be the path used to run the wiring in the ground. If the connection is stable, and providing the speeds you pay for, I would not worry about it. |

Ok thankz. One more thing. Is there a way to change from interleaved to fast. Im a gamer and I heard its possible for CenturyLink. |

It used to be easy for Embarq customers. I don't know how they handle it now. Try online chat from the support site, or send an email request with DSL Phone Number to: talktous@centurylink.com |

40 db downstream is pretty low db.. compared 19.5 db upstream..was there pulse attenuation (PA) or Margin (SNR - Signal to noise) values .. As from what I know the PA 28 should be no lower than 35 db... |

Here is PA to db conversion table.
pa 1 = 1.25 pa 11 = 13.75 pa 21 = 26.25 pa 31 = 38.75 pa 2 = 2.50 pa 12 = 15.00 pa 22 = 27.50 pa 32 = 40.00 pa 3 = 3.75 pa 13 = 16.25 pa 23 = 28.75 pa 33 = 41.25 pa 4 = 5.00 pa 14 = 17.50 pa 24 = 30.00 pa 34 = 42.50 pa 5 = 6.25 pa 15 = 18.75 pa 25 = 31.25 pa 35 = 43.75 pa 6 = 7.50 pa 16 = 20.00 pa 26 = 32.50 pa 36 = 45.00 pa 7 = 8.75 pa 17 = 21.25 pa 27 = 33.75 pa 37 = 46.25 pa 8 = 10.00 pa 18 = 22.50 pa 28 = 35.00 pa 38 = 47.50 pa 9 = 11.25 pa 19 = 23.75 pa 29 = 36.25 pa 39 = 48.75 pa 10 = 12.50 pa 20 = 25.00 pa 30 = 37.50 pa 40 = 50.00 |

Was a bridge tap test done on the cable pairs?
As their definitely an unbalanced set of pairs when one compares the tx and rx..noise levels. IE: the Tx is quite at 28.6 db SNR.. The rx is 20.5 db.. Either wet cable pair, grounding or bridge tap.. that is an 8.1 db unbalance.
Especially, when you look at the 19.5 db transmit pair and rx pair at 40 db.. they should be comparable within 2.5 db. |
