Arris Modems still being used?

On an open wifi spot, I still notice people using an old style Arris modem, when will Cox upgrade them to a D3 modem? I'm wondering if all new customers are getting the new D3 modems.

As of March 1, we issued a policy to issue only DOCSIS 3 EMTAs and gateways on any installation of Preferred and above, and it should be enforced in all markets (regardless of whether they've been upgraded to the latest crazy-fast tiers) by May 1.

Anyone who has Premier or Ultimate with active phone service on a Cox-owned DOCSIS 2 EMTA should call our Self-Install Helpdesk at 1-888-556-1193 for a free exchange. (Actually, nobody should have Ultimate on a DOCSIS 2 device anyway, but I saw it happen once in my 2 years on the phones.) This hasn't been extended to Preferred yet.

On Starter or Economy, we can still issue the DOCSIS 2 EMTAs, though I expect there will be fewer of them passing the reconditioning process as time goes on.

Hmmm.. yeah I'm still using my Arris DOCSIS 2 EMTA on Premiere. It's giving me the speeds that OK is still at for Premiere:

Unless they raise my internet speed limit beyond the capacity of the modem, it just quits working or starts acting weird, I see no reason to replace it as I'm not sure what I would really gain from it.

It's too bad you can't offer phone service for $12.12 a mo for unlimited phone calling like my current provider has. I really enjoyed it. $29.99 seems kinda steep and Vonage has Basic Talk for more then half that.

Well, if you count the bundle discount I get for having phone, which I would loose if I cancelled it, I'm really only paying $15 for phone. So, yeah if I got phone with someone else, my total out of pocket wouldn't be any less. :/

Their phone went from $29.99 to $50.00 thanks to fees. My current phone is just $12.12. Complete, for life. Hard to compete with this available.

I am using an Arris Docsis 3 modem and there was no issue getting it added to the account or up and running.

As per phone My wife and I have unlimited cell coverage so no need for a home phone but my mother in law uses a magicjack and enjoys it just fine.

What's the fees they now add on to the phone? The $29.99 is cheap - the $10.00 discount (19.99)

They are still giving them out in Central Florida for digital phone service, my folks signed up several months ago and they got an obviously used Arris D2 modem (obviously used because a broken piece of plastic is rattling around inside it).
